The phenomenon of the glass going up/down slowly when the switch is pressed or flickering and then stopping is a sign that it is time to check the inside of the car door glass mechanism.

Besides the phenomenon that can be seen with the naked eye, users can also determine the damage through the rattling sound emitted each time the window control button is pressed. When the window makes this sound, it could be that the motor is about to break or that the glass is stuck due to the gears wearing out or cracking over time.
In addition, due to the up-and-down mechanism of the window being a supporting frame, the pulling force from the motor has to go through the cable, so if this cable is broken or jammed by oil and dirt, it can also cause the car window to get stuck. In addition, when the car is used infrequently and parked outdoors a lot, the car window is prone to getting stuck due to the door seal “aging”, having a lot of dirt or being misaligned.
Although repairing and fixing the up-and-down mechanism of the car door window is very quick and simple, the car owner still needs to take it to the garage because it also involves precise installation so that the window operates smoothly.
First, after receiving the car, the mechanic will perform a “quick test” by removing the old control unit and temporarily installing a similar one that is in good working order, then pressing up/down.
If the window does not respond, the mechanic will check the fuse to diagnose the power supply to the up/down motor assembly. After eliminating the power source, the next step is to remove the door trim to expose the entire door frame mechanism.
Next, assess whether the wiring system is jammed. Also check if the wiring system is still functioning properly, if it is cracked or broken. Check if the door padding is misaligned or damaged and needs to be replaced.
Finally, check the door motor, if it is not working or is weak, it should be replaced with a new one.
Experts recommend that the up/down mechanism of the window often fails in older cars or cars that have been used for a long time but have not been cleaned or maintained properly.
Therefore, car users need to be aware of these issues to prevent problems. When the up/down function of the window is broken, especially on humid days, users can temporarily fix it by using the air conditioner or the window defrost function to prevent fogging and reduce visibility.
