Place a piece of paper on a table and drip a few drops of honey onto it. If the honey soaks into the paper immediately, it’s fake honey mixed with water. Real honey will absorb into the paper very slowly.

2Water Test

Scoop a small amount of honey and place it in water. Pure honey will be difficult to dissolve, while fake honey mixed with syrup and sugar will instantly dissolve in water.

Alternatively, dip a chopstick into the honey and drip it into a glass of water. If it’s real honey, the drop will settle at the bottom of the glass instead of dissolving immediately.

3Wick Test

Pour a small amount of honey into a bowl, dip the wick of a candle into the honey, and then try to light it. Real honey will coat the wick and prevent the candle from burning.

4Sensory Test

When stirring real honey, you won’t feel any obstruction, and it stirs easily. If you rub it between your fingers, you won’t feel any grit, and when you taste it, it will have a rich sweetness without being cloying. If you feel it catching in your throat, it’s fake honey.

Genuine honey is very viscous; when scooped onto a spoon and poured, it forms a long, continuous stream.

5Proper Honey Storage

– Store honey at an ideal temperature between 21 and 26 degrees Celsius. Keep it away from the stove as the heat will darken the honey.

– Use glass or ceramic containers for honey storage, avoiding wooden or metal utensils to maintain its quality.

– Keep the lid tightly closed to prevent exposure to air and water, ensuring the honey remains delicious.
