3 Steps to Register an Electric Scooter’s License Plate
Step 1: Pay the Registration Fee
Bring the VAT invoice (value-added tax invoice) from your vehicle purchase and your ID card/citizen identification card to the Tax Department of the district/county where your household registration is located to obtain the Registration Fee Declaration.
After receiving the declaration, fill in the necessary information and wait for approval from the Tax Department. Once approved, go to the bank to pay the registration fee to the state, or inquire if they offer a fee collection service. You will receive a Registration Fee Receipt after paying the fee.

- For vehicles with a VAT invoice of less than 10,000,000 VND, the fee is 400,000 VND.
- For vehicles with a VAT invoice of more than 10,000,000 VND, the fee is 10% of the vehicle’s value.

- If you are re-issuing or changing the license plate number, the process will take no more than seven days from the date of receiving complete and valid documents.
- For temporary registration, the processing of the registration application and issuance of the license plate will be done on the same day.
- In case of loss of the electric scooter’s registration certificate, the registration authority will need no more than 30 days from the date of receiving the valid documents to reissue the certificate.
