A traveler with the pseudonym Cheat-Meat chose Cairo, Egypt, as a “never-return” destination due to the beauty of the pyramids being marred by scams and persistent touts.

Many others shared similar experiences. One person recounted being almost locked inside a perfume shop in Egypt and pressured to purchase items. However, they stood their ground and refused to buy anything, eventually being allowed to leave. “It was a bit scary,” said the traveler, nicknamed Crap-bag.

India was the next most mentioned destination, with complaints of constant harassment, lack of respect for tourists, and staring. Many travelers expressed their love for curry, but this was not enough to overcome their negative experiences in the country.

Florida, USA, was also cited for its tourist traps and rude individuals. However, some acknowledged the area’s inherent beauty if one could escape the congested commercial areas.

For some travelers, the glitz and glamour of Monaco fell flat. Public restrooms at the palace were described as extremely dirty, and at the Monte Carlo casino, visitors reported being ignored unless they were regular or wealthy patrons.

Cost was another deciding factor for returning. Switzerland, according to Joe Cool, is beautiful but exorbitantly expensive. The cheapest meal they had there cost $150, and most meals exceeded $200. A 30-minute train or cable car ride up a mountain was priced at $130, while similar experiences in France, Italy, Austria, and Germany were half the price.

Rome, Italy, was recommended to be avoided in the summer due to oppressive heat and crowds, making the experience “horrendous.”

On the other hand, Cornwall in the UK was praised for its wild sandy beaches, rich history, and architecture. Travelers loved the turquoise waters, beautiful coves, and coastal walking trails scented with wildflowers.

The coastal city of Penang, Malaysia, was another favorite, offering a unique experience of visiting multiple countries at once due to its cultural mix. Oman, a Middle Eastern destination, impressed with its diverse landscapes of deserts, mountains, beaches, forests, valleys, and ancient villages, along with friendly locals. New Orleans, USA, was described as having the most vibrant culture some travelers had ever encountered.

While Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto are popular destinations in Japan, travelers expressed a fondness for the city of Kanazawa in Ishikawa Prefecture. Nicknamed “Little Kyoto,” Kanazawa exceeded expectations and offered a wealth of surprises.
