Chiềng Khoa Waterfall: A Collection of Captivating Names

Chiềng Khoa Waterfall goes by many names, but the most commonly used one is Thác Mây, which translates to Cloud Waterfall. Locals share a fascinating legend associated with the name. It is said that the name originates from the Xên Bản, Xên Mường festival, a unique cultural event of the Thai ethnic minority group in Mai Châu. This festival, usually held when the banana flowers bloom, is a time for the community to come together and pray for a bountiful harvest and blessings of peace and prosperity.

During the festival, the Thai people not only express their heartfelt wishes for a prosperous and peaceful life but also engage in various traditional games such as drum and gong performances, spinning tops, and throwing darts. Young men and women also participate in courtship, exchanging words of love and singing heartfelt songs to each other.
