Day 1: Hang Temple, Hang Cau, and Thoi Loi Peak

The first stop on our Ly Son Island itinerary is Hang Temple, a 400-year-old temple nestled within a large cave halfway up the mountain. As you make your way up to the temple, the road twists and turns around the mountain’s waist, offering breathtaking views of the village and the island’s signature garlic fields.

Next, we head to Hang Cau, a stunning check-in spot with a white sandy beach hugged by crystal-clear waters on one side and dramatic cliffs on the other. The unique shape of the cliffs is a result of the constant battering by wind and waves.

Just south of Hang Cau lies a wide beach with a colorful coral reef. Here, you can try your hand at snorkeling or kayaking and enjoy a delicious seafood meal, fresh from the ocean.

In the afternoon, we ascend Thoi Loi Peak to catch the sunset. This dormant volcano is one of five on the island and stands at about 170 meters above sea level. The climb is steep, but the reward is a giant crater at the summit, housing a freshwater lake that supplies the entire district.

The peak also offers a variety of attractive backdrops for photography enthusiasts, especially the 20-meter-tall flagpole flying the national flag.

As evening falls, take a leisurely stroll along the peaceful and pristine Ly Son coastline and breathe in the fresh sea air. After dinner, if you still have the energy, head to the night market, just 2 kilometers from the beach, for some late-night shopping.

Day 2: Hon Mu Cu, Be Island, and To Vo Gate

On the second day, wake up early to catch the sunrise at Hon Mu Cu and witness the first rays of sunlight dancing on the water. This spot is known for its distinctive black stone beach.

From there, make your way back to Ly Son Harbor and hop on a canoe to Be Island, affectionately dubbed the “Maldives of Vietnam.” A short 20-minute canoe ride brings you to this tropical paradise, where you can rent a motorbike, electric car, or tuk-tuk to explore the island.

The most famous spot on Be Island is Bãi Sau, a small beach with crystal-clear waters that allow you to see straight to the bottom. In addition to swimming, you can sign up for coral diving for a unique experience.

Before returning to the port and the main island, don’t forget to pay a visit to the solitary banyan tree and capture some memorable photos.

Back on the main island, take a lunch break and rest up before continuing your journey to Duc Temple, built in 2008. This temple features three shrines nestled within a cave on the cliff face of Giếng Tiền, another dormant volcano on the island. Reaching the temple requires climbing 100 steps up the mountain’s slope.

Just 2 kilometers from the temple lies To Vo Gate, one of the most iconic photo spots on Ly Son Island. This natural arch, standing over 2 meters tall, was formed by solidified lava meeting the sea millions of years ago. The surrounding area is dotted with primitive black basalt rocks.

As the sun sets, the golden-orange hues reflect off the rocks, creating a magical atmosphere and the perfect opportunity for some breathtaking photographs.

On the second evening, unwind at a local café and soak in the island’s quaint charm. It’s the perfect way to bid farewell to Ly Son.

If you’re an adventurous soul, don’t miss out on this 2-day, 1-night trip to Ly Son Island. Pack your bags, gather your friends, and let’s explore this beautiful island together!
