How to Store Whole Butternut Squash
Butternut squash is easy to store. You don’t need to refrigerate it, and it can remain fresh for several months.
For long-term storage, select mature, undamaged squash with intact skin. Avoid those with scratches, cracks, or bruises. Wipe the squash clean with a dry cloth and store it in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight. With this method, butternut squash can stay fresh for an extended period.

For cut pieces of butternut squash, refrigeration is necessary to maintain freshness and prevent spoilage.

Then, take some salt crystals and gently rub them onto the cut surfaces of the squash. There’s no need to sprinkle salt inside the squash. Salt acts as a disinfectant, inhibiting bacterial growth and helping the squash stay fresh longer.

Note: Do not wash the squash with water during storage. If it gets wet, the squash will spoil quickly.
