Everyone cleans their homes and keeps their belongings clean, but there is one thing that is often overlooked and harbors countless bacteria, including Mycobacterium, and that is the showerhead.
A study from the University of Colorado at Boulder has warned that this increases the risk of lung infections and contracting tuberculosis among family members when using a dirty showerhead.
So when people notice a decrease in water pressure, uneven water spray, or water spraying to one side, it means that the showerhead is clogged, resulting in bacteria growth. The urgent need is to clean the showerhead following the instructions below to ensure smooth water flow and, more importantly, to ensure the health of the whole family.
Using vinegar
Vinegar is commonly found in every kitchen, but people shouldn’t just use it for cooking. Vinegar is also very helpful in cleaning the showerhead. The method is very simple, just pour vinegar into a plastic bag about 2/3 full and carefully place the showerhead into the bag, tightly sealing it.
Leave it for a few hours or overnight until the next morning, then remove the vinegar bag and rinse the showerhead with the strongest water pressure to remove all the buildup. For those who are more meticulous, they can use an old toothbrush to scrub the small holes on the showerhead for a thorough clean.
Using baking soda
If the showerhead has not been cleaned for a long time and there are black spots, another ingredient, baking soda, can be used in combination with vinegar.
We simply mix vinegar and baking soda into a pasty mixture, then put it in a plastic bag. Then, perform the same steps as before, placing the showerhead into the bag of the mixture, sealing it tightly for about a day. The next day, use a toothbrush or a pointed pick to clean the holes and rinse the water, and the showerhead will be completely clean, allowing for a pleasant bathing experience.
