During frequent gatherings and parties, girls have to put on makeup almost every day. The consequences can be severe if you don’t remove your makeup properly or follow a suitable skincare routine afterward.

Reasons why makeup can make your skin worse

Clogging ingredients

Heavy makeup combined with dust and oil can easily clog the pores on the skin, leading to acne breakouts. Moisturizing products such as mineral oil and coconut oil or thick, dense textures can also cause clogged pores.

Inadequate cleansing

During sleep, hormones have the function of healing and stimulating faster cell regeneration and repair. Therefore, sleeping with makeup can hinder the skin’s regenerative process in various ways. Moreover, leaving makeup on the eyes can increase the risk of eye infection and damage the skin around the eyes.

Not cleaning makeup tools

The blush brush, powder puff… The makeup tools you use on your face every day can also be a source of acne breakouts. If they are not cleaned regularly, at least twice a week, they will become the main cause of skin irritation, sensitivity, and noticeable deterioration.

As soon as cosmetics are opened, they will come into contact with the environment and change in terms of formula and texture. Therefore, the expiration date printed on the packaging is an important milestone to pay attention to.

Skincare while wearing makeup

It is necessary to establish a sufficient skincare routine, focusing on cleansing, moisturizing, and protecting the skin with a primer to minimize the negative effects caused by daily makeup.

Proper makeup removal

Double cleansing – removing makeup with micellar water or oil and then cleansing with a face wash – is an effective method of cleansing the skin, helping to completely remove makeup residue and oil from the skin.

Gentle micellar water and gel cleansers with a pH level of around 5.5-6 are necessary.

Exfoliating is also very important in removing dead skin cells, old horny layers, and improving skin texture. However, you should not exfoliate too often as it can damage the skin’s protective barrier. The ideal frequency is 2-3 times a week.

Moisturize

For oily skin, it is best to choose a lightweight moisturizer that focuses on hydration. On the other hand, gel or lotion textures that are quickly absorbed will not be enough to maintain long-lasting moisture for dry skin. Therefore, cream-based products will provide optimal effectiveness.

Apply primer

Primer plays the role of creating a protective barrier between the skin and foundation, ensuring comprehensive skincare when wearing makeup. In the market, current primer products have integrated many functions such as sun protection, moisturizing, smoothing, pore minimizing, water resistance… to meet the beauty needs of women.
