Recently, Thuỷ Tiên shared her daughter’s English-written diary on social media. The singer wrote: “A few days ago, her classmates asked to come over to our house during their summer break, so I took the kids to the mall.” Some people were surprised by this, as there had been previous claims that Bánh Gạo was isolated at school. A commenter expressed their shock: “I can’t believe some people said that no one plays with her at school, when clearly she’s happy and well-liked by her friends. Some people even left malicious comments about her. How cruel! Even children aren’t spared.” The comment included a screenshot of a post claiming that Bánh Gạo, despite attending an international school, was shunned by her peers, who allegedly asked: “Is your mother a good or bad person?” The singer’s response to this comment was an emoji with the words “mô Phật” [translated as a Buddhist chant or prayer].
Born in 1985, Thuỷ Tiên is a well-known singer in the Vietnamese entertainment industry. Hailing from Kiên Giang, she began her musical career in 2005 and has since released numerous hits, including Giấc mơ tuyết trắng, Em đã quên, and Thư gửi anh. In late 2014, she married footballer Công Vinh, and they welcomed their daughter, Bánh Gạo, earlier that year.
Bánh Gạo was born in 2013, but her parents have never revealed her face to the public. All photos of her are either from behind or carefully obscured. When asked about this decision, Thuỷ Tiên replied that she and her husband wanted to avoid fostering a sense of entitlement in their daughter and that they would only share clear photos when her presence could benefit society.
Previously, Thuỷ Tiên shared that Bánh Gạo had started to enjoy showing off her famous parents, which concerned the singer. This was another reason why they chose to keep their daughter’s identity private.
Thuỷ Tiên and Công Vinh also ensure that Bánh Gạo understands financial independence: “My money is my money, your father’s money is your father’s money, and your money is your money. It’s not that your parents’ money is your money. Your money is what you’ll earn when you grow up and start working,” they explained.
On one occasion, Thuỷ Tiên’s mother shared a heartwarming story about Bánh Gạo’s kindness. For her birthday, the young girl wanted to give a gift to those less fortunate. This anecdote showcases the values that Thuỷ Tiên and her mother are instilling in the young girl, encouraging her to be compassionate and contribute to society.
