Nail Care
Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is rich in linoleic acid, a natural anti-inflammatory agent that works wonders for improving the health of your nails and cuticles. It also moisturizes and helps prevent dry, brittle, and fragile nails.
Take a sufficient amount of coconut oil and gently massage it into your nails and the surrounding skin before bedtime. You can also gently massage your hands, paying special attention to the palms and fingers, for about 10 minutes to achieve soft and smooth hands…
Nail Cream
Specialized nail creams provide much-needed moisture and nutrients to promote nail health. They also help protect your nails from external factors. When applying nail cream, don’t forget to gently massage your nails and the surrounding skin.
Nail Oils
Oils such as jojoba oil, flaxseed oil, and olive oil are excellent for moisturizing, adding shine, and strengthening your nails.
Baking Soda:
Baking soda can help exfoliate dead skin, soften cuticles, and prevent nail infections. Mix one spoonful of baking soda with a cup of warm water. Soak your nails in this mixture for about 10 minutes, then rinse with cool water. Follow up by applying a nourishing nail cream.
Nail Maintenance
Trimming your nails too short can lead to pain and inflammation at the tips of your fingers and increase the risk of bacterial and fungal infections. Therefore, avoid cutting your nails too short or pushing back your cuticles too aggressively. Over-filing your nails can also inadvertently cause cracks, breaks, and other damage.
Minimize Nail Treatments
Acrylic nails, gel manicures, and false nails can weaken your natural nails, making them more prone to damage. The process of applying these treatments often involves using a coarse file to roughen the surface of your nails, which can leave them dry and vulnerable. It’s best to give your nails a break between these treatments to allow them to recover and regain their strength.
Additionally, removing nail polish often requires the use of acetone, which can dry out your nails, causing them to become brittle, discolored, and more susceptible to breakage and other damage. Regular use of acetone can also be damaging to your nails and skin.
