Experts recommend paying attention to the amount of salt intake for those who want to lose weight. This is because consuming too much salt can cause water retention and weight gain. Weight loss diets often emphasize eating bland food. The body’s salt needs are not high, usually around 2g of sodium or about 5g of salt per day. The diets of many Vietnamese people often exceed this threshold, as meat, fish, vegetables, and rice already contain a certain amount of sodium, and then we add a lot of salt in seasoning and dipping sauce.

You shouldn’t eat too much salt, but using salt externally in the following ways can help with beauty.

Salt helps reduce skin rashes

Use sea salt to dissolve in about 40g of salt with 100ml of hot water. Clean the skin, then soak a soft cotton pad in this saltwater and gently rub it to reduce skin rashes.

Helps reduce eye puffiness

Use dissolved salt water and soak a cotton pad, then place it on the eyes to help reduce eye puffiness.

Reduces belly fat

Applying hot salt externally to the skin can help tighten the abdominal muscles and effectively reduce belly fat. You can use salt alone or combine it with some herbs.

Preparation: 1 kg of salt, 1 fabric bag or cotton towel. Put the salt in a pan and heat until hot. The salt cracking and sizzling on the pan indicates it’s hot. Put this salt into the fabric bag or cotton towel. Choose a mineral airbag but thick to avoid thermal burns. You place this salt bag on your stomach. You should test the heat to see if you can handle it, if it’s too hot, wrap it with an extra layer of towel. Apply it until the salt cools down and can be heated again, then repeat. You can do the salt application 1-2 times a day.

If you have wormwood, you should combine them. Stir the wormwood until it changes color, then add the salt seeds and stir-fry until they turn black. Then put them in a bag/towel and apply it as mentioned above. The heat from the roasted salt will help dissolve excess fat in the belly.

Care for hair and reduce dandruff

Use 1 small teaspoon of salt, 1 small teaspoon of vinegar, dilute it and then apply and massage evenly on the scalp. Then wrap with a towel and leave it on for about 10 minutes. Note that using too much salt can make the scalp and hair dry. Then rinse with clean water. Doing this helps reduce scalp itchiness and dandruff.

Whiten teeth

Salt is a cleaning ingredient that our ancestors used to use for dental hygiene. Using boiled salt water for mouthwash or adding salt to toothpaste can help reduce bad breath, and make teeth cleaner and whiter.
