Creating a Photo Album on iPhone is the same across all iOS versions, so you can follow the instructions below regardless of your device. The instructions below were created using the latest iOS 17.4.1 version.
1. What is a Photo Album on iPhone?
The Photo Album on iPhone is a built-in feature of the iOS operating system that allows users to effortlessly manage their photos. When you take pictures or save images from various sources, they are automatically saved to their respective albums, such as “Camera Roll,” “Screenshots,” “Live Photos,” and more. This feature makes it easy for users to quickly find and access their pictures.
Additionally, the photo album supports automatic categorization and recognition of objects, locations, and even your friends’ and family’s faces. This useful feature makes searching and reviewing your images easier and more convenient than ever.
Users can also create personal photo albums, which they can freely organize and name as they wish, allowing them to create distinct photo collections for special occasions, trips, or significant life events.
2. Difference Between a Photo Folder and a Photo Album on iPhone
Simply put, a photo album is where you add individual photos or videos. In contrast, a photo folder can only contain photo albums or subfolders; it cannot contain individual photos or videos.
For example, let’s say you have two trips to Germany and England, and you organize the photos from both trips into separate albums. Then, you place the two travel albums, Germany and England, into a folder called Travel. This way, you can easily view and search for your two albums within the Travel folder, especially if your phone has too many photo albums, making them difficult to find.
That’s how the two features, photo albums and photo folders, work, and you can use either one.
