In our household, we have many wooden objects such as tables, chairs, altars, floors, utensils… If they are no longer shiny, follow these steps:
Tips for cleaning with vinegar and olive oil to make wooden objects shiny
In addition to buying specialized wood spray, you can make your own wood cleaning mixture for your family
Step 1: Mix olive oil and white vinegar in a ratio of 4 parts oil to 1 part vinegar. Then pour it into a spray bottle and shake well.
Step 2: Spray the solution onto a soft cloth and wipe the entire wood surface. The wood surface will become shiny again. This solution not only cleans but also polishes the wood surface, as vinegar has a cleaning effect. After wiping two to three times, the shine of the wood will be restored.
Remove scratches to make wooden objects smooth with vinegar
When wooden objects are transported or used for a long time, they can easily get scratched from other objects on the surface, making them look dull and dirty, and giving them an old-fashioned appearance. Here’s what you can do:
Method 1: Mix vinegar and olive oil together and apply it to the scratch. Then wipe it off to hide the scratch and make the wood shiny again, so that the scratch is no longer visible.
Method 2: If you have colored pens with various colors at home, choose a pen with a similar color to the wood and write on it. After coloring, you can apply a layer of polish or nail polish to the top.
Method 3: You can also break a walnut and rub it on the scratch, and you will be amazed to see them fade away.
Method 4: If you have dark-colored wood, moisten them with coffee grounds and apply them to the scratch, then wipe it off, and you will be amazed at the surprising result.
How to treat heat marks on wooden objects with tea water
Wooden objects that hold bowls, plates, or have hot cups placed on them often leave heat marks. If the heat mark is small, quickly use a cloth to absorb fire oil, alcohol, or tea water and wipe it, the heat mark will disappear. But if the heat mark is large, use a soft cloth to absorb water and then soak it in ammonia solution, then press it onto the heat mark and apply a layer of wax on top. By doing this, the heat mark will be completely eliminated.
Remove stains caused by watermarks on wooden objects
When tea, coffee, or colored drinks and food create stains on wooden objects, use a damp cloth to cover them, then use an iron to iron the cloth several times. Those dirty stains will be attracted to the hot water or stick to the cloth.
Remove burn marks on wooden surfaces
If unfortunately the table gets burned, for example, by a dropped cigarette, a dropped matchstick, or a hot iron placed on it… use a soft, stiff cloth wrapped around the tip of a chopstick and gently wipe it on the burn mark. Finally, apply a thin layer of wax on it, and the burn mark will be removed in no time.
Caring for wooden objects is important. Scratched wooden objects will look old and hoard bacteria and dust, making them difficult to clean. So avoid rubbing and dragging objects on the wooden surface.
