What does mixing cold rice with laundry detergent do?

To get rid of cockroaches effectively, you can use a natural and easy method at home by combining laundry detergent and cold rice.

The first step is to prepare a small bowl, laundry detergent, and brown sugar. In the bowl, add a tablespoon of laundry detergent and a tablespoon of brown sugar, then mix well. Add a cup of water to the bowl and stir to create a foamy mixture.

Next, place the mixed bowl in areas where cockroaches usually appear or pass through, such as corners of cabinets. The mild fragrance and sweet taste from the brown sugar will attract cockroaches. When they consume the mixture, the laundry detergent will create a respiratory blockage effect in their stomach, causing their death. This method is not only simple but also a safe and effective way to eliminate cockroaches from your living space.

There are two ways to kill cockroaches with soap:

Method 1: Mix 20 ml of soap with 500 ml of water, then place this mixture at the base of cabinets or shelves. Cockroaches will stay away when they sense the soap scent.

Method 2: Perform the same as method one, but increase the amount of water. Pour the solution into a spray bottle and directly spray it in areas where cockroaches frequently pass by.

However, to completely eliminate cockroaches from your home, the most important thing is to cut off their “food source.” Kitchen waste and food storage bags need to be placed in the trash can and tightly sealed. Leftover food should be tightly wrapped in plastic wrap and placed in the refrigerator. Used dishes should be clean and air-dried.

Ensuring that the kitchen space is always clean will help prevent the appearance of cockroaches in your home.

Other ways to kill cockroaches

Using vinegar

Vinegar with its distinctive smell makes cockroaches feel fearful. Dissolve vinegar in warm water and use this solution to wipe the floor. Let the floor dry naturally so that vinegar water can penetrate deep into crevices, creating a distinctive smell that keeps cockroaches away from your home. After using this method for a while, cockroaches will no longer appear in your space.

Peppermint oil

The scent of peppermint scares cockroaches. Mix peppermint oil with clean water and place it in a spray bottle. Spray this mixture in areas where cockroaches frequently appear, such as sinks, kitchen corners, or bathrooms. Peppermint oil helps remove cockroaches without harming your health.

Orange and lemon peels

Orange and lemon peels have a mild and pleasant scent that effectively repels cockroaches while being safe. Dry the peels and place them in areas where cockroaches usually appear. The sweet fragrance from orange and lemon peels will make cockroaches hesitate to approach.

Alternatively, you can dilute lemon extract with water and pour it into a spray bottle. Spray this water in places where cockroaches often come and go.

Cleaning water pipes with baking soda and hot water

Water pipes are the “gateway” for cockroaches to enter your home. Cleaning water pipes will help prevent cockroaches effectively. Add a tablespoon of baking soda to a cup of warm water, stir well, and pour it into the water pipe. Baking soda helps destroy the cockroach’s digestive system and prevent them from infiltrating your home.

Repelling cockroaches with catnip

Put a handful of catnip into a mesh bag or a sock, then tie it up and sun-dry it until dry. Catnip with its pungent taste and strong scent makes cockroaches unable to tolerate it. Hanging the bag of catnip in suitable places will naturally reduce the number of cockroaches appearing in your home.
