Phone speakers are an area that is prone to dirt accumulation. This not only affects the aesthetics but also impacts the sound quality of the device, making it quieter and distorted.
Although dirty speakers are not a serious issue, to ensure that the sound quality of the device is not affected, you should proceed with cleaning the speakers.
Before cleaning the phone speakers, you need to turn off the power of the device. Additionally, prepare a set of specialized phone and computer cleaning tools (which can be found on e-commerce websites), cotton swabs or soft cloths, alcohol or phone cleaning solution, mini dust blower (commonly used for cleaning phones and computers).
Cleaning phone speakers with soft materials
You need to identify the location of the phone speakers before proceeding with cleaning. iPhone speakers are usually located on the left and right side of the charging port. For Android phones, the speakers can be located on either the left or right side of the charging port.
You can use soft materials such as cotton swabs to gently twist into the speaker grilles to remove the dust inside. You can also use a soft bristle brush to push the dust out of the phone speakers. If using a brush, brush in different directions to remove as much dust as possible.
If you have 70% alcohol, you can dip a cotton swab into the alcohol and clean the phone speakers. Alcohol evaporates quickly, so after cleaning, just leave the phone in a well-ventilated place for the alcohol to evaporate completely.
Cleaning phone speakers with adhesive tape
You can roll a piece of adhesive tape into a cylinder shape with the sticky side facing out. Insert this adhesive tape into the speaker grilles of the phone. The dust on the phone speakers will quickly stick to the adhesive tape. Replace with a new piece of adhesive tape and repeat the process until the speakers are clean.
You can also stick a piece of adhesive tape on the surface of the phone speakers. Use a small stick to press the adhesive tape lightly into the gaps of the speakers, allowing the dust to stick to the adhesive. Peel off the adhesive tape and repeat the process until the phone speakers are clean.
Cleaning phone speakers with compressed air dusters
You can invest in a compressed air duster to blow the dust out of the phone speakers. This product is available at electronic stores. Before use, carefully read the instructions on the product packaging. It is recommended to test the duster a few times to ensure it is functioning properly. Then, place the duster nozzle into the phone speaker and blow 3-4 bursts of air. Note that the duster nozzle should not be placed too close to the speaker grilles. Keep a certain distance between the duster and the speakers to avoid excessive pressure from the air in the duster affecting the phone’s components.
Cleaning phone speakers with sound
In addition to manual cleaning, you can use sound to clean the dust that accumulates in the phone speakers. Some software applications use sound to clean phone speakers, such as Frequency Sound Generator, Speaker Cleaner, Sonic.
Cleaning phone jacks
In addition to cleaning the speakers, you can also clean the phone jacks in a similar way.
