Adhesive is indispensable in our daily lives, but it’s inevitable that we’ll end up with some glue on our hands when using it to stick things together. If you’re not careful, you might tear your precious skin trying to get it off. But worry not, the perfect solution is here.

1. How to deal with super glue on your hands

If you accidentally get super glue on your hands, don’t panic. First, slowly pour a small amount of essential oil, often used for cooling down and repelling mosquitoes, directly onto the affected area. Gently move your fingers and rub them together to continuously dissolve the glue with the oil.

Note: Be very careful and patient. You might need to repeat this process several times until the glue is completely dissolved and your fingers are safely “rescued” from the sticky situation. Afterward, wash your hands with clean water.

This method also works great for removing super glue from shoes. If you don’t have essential oil at home, you can use nail polish remover as a substitute, following the same steps.

2. Dealing with rat glue trap adhesive

Getting your hands stuck on a rat glue trap is extremely annoying, even more so than super glue, as this adhesive is very sticky and hard to remove.

In this case, you’ll need some help from those around you. First, get a spoonful of edible vegetable oil and slowly pour it over the affected hand. Rub your hands together for about a minute. Then, pour a small amount of oil to soak your hands for a while, and continue rubbing until the glue is almost non-sticky, indicating that it’s nearly dissolved.

Add a little detergent and keep rubbing your hands together, then rinse them with clean water. Don’t forget to apply some hand cream to nourish your skin, and the rat glue trap adhesive will be perfectly removed.

3. Removing sap from your hands

Sap from fruits like jackfruit can be a nuisance when it gets on your hands. Simply pour a little cooking oil, coconut oil, or olive oil on your hands and rub it all over. You’ll notice the sap starting to soften and melt away with the oil. Use paper towels or tissue to wipe it off, then wash your hands with soap and warm water to get rid of any remaining oil and sap.

Apart from cooking oil, you can also use flour or rice powder to clean your hands. These kitchen staples are great at absorbing the sap and making it easier to wash off. Sprinkle some flour or rice powder on your hands and rub it in. The powder will absorb the sap, and you can easily rinse it off with warm water and soap to get rid of the sticky mess completely.

Alternatively, you can use natural acids like lemon or vinegar to break down the sap. The mild acidity in these ingredients will disrupt the protein structure of the sap, making it easy to wash away.
