Smart Birth Month
There’s an old folk saying that goes, “Thuan mua sinh,” which suggests that those born during the right season for their age tend to fare better. On the other hand, scientific research from Harvard University in the US indicates that there are two birth months that positively influence human development, especially during the early stages of life. These are September and October.
The Harvard researchers studied over 10,000 children for seven years, recording their development in relation to their birth month. They found that children born in September and October tended to have higher IQ scores and better average weights than those born in other months.
Interestingly, it was also observed that many of America’s top football players were born during these two months.
Supporting this, research from Fudan University in China found that the highest number of first-year students were born in October. Other universities, such as Zhejiang University and Xiamen University, also had a high number of students born in October. This suggests that children born in September and October may have a developmental advantage, particularly when it comes to intellectual development.
Why are September and October considered favorable birth months?
A person’s intelligence and physical development are influenced by various factors, including genes, the fetal stage, early life experiences, environment, nutrition, and education. The prenatal period and the first three years of life are particularly crucial, forming the foundation for future development.
When a child is conceived in the spring and born in September or October, it aligns with the natural order of the seasons, a time of growth and renewal. Typically, spring brings milder temperatures and a more relaxed atmosphere, contributing to a positive mindset for the mother. This, in turn, creates a conducive environment for the baby’s development during the critical early months.
The spring months offer a more comfortable environment for the mother, with better appetite and less extreme weather conditions compared to summer’s heat or winter’s cold. This is especially crucial during the first trimester, which sets the stage for the child’s entire development.
Additionally, giving birth in September or October can shield both mother and child from the adverse environmental impacts that may occur during critical periods. The mild weather at the beginning and end of pregnancy can make the birthing process more comfortable and reduce health risks.
Furthermore, children born in these months benefit from a more favorable environment for physical activity during their early stages of life. As they reach the three-month mark and start to roll over and crawl, the winter cold has usually subsided, and they are not yet hampered by thick clothing. This freedom of movement and exploration can enhance their overall agility and cognitive development.
While the birth month can provide initial advantages for physical and cognitive development, it is essential to remember that it is not the sole determinant of a child’s intelligence or destiny. A child’s environment, education, nutrition, and health also play significant roles in their overall well-being and future success.
