For many Vietnamese, essential oils are an indispensable part of their daily lives. These oils are used to address a variety of issues and have become a common habit for people of all ages. Some even joke that these oils serve as their daily perfume.
Today, I want to share an interesting way to use these oils: by adding a few drops to a roll of toilet paper. But why, and what are the benefits?
Read on to find out more, and don’t forget to share your thoughts on this method!
First: Eliminate bathroom odors by adding essential oils to toilet paper
Essential oils aren’t just beneficial for your health; they can also be a great solution for everyday household issues. One effective method is to add a few drops of oil to a roll of toilet paper to eliminate bathroom odors.
Bathrooms tend to develop unpleasant smells, even with regular cleaning, due to the presence of bacteria. Instead of using air fresheners, try using essential oils. Just add a few drops to a roll of toilet paper and place it in the bathroom. The natural fragrance of the oils will effectively and lasting neutralize odors.
Second: Remove musty smells from closets with essential oils
During humid weather, closets can develop a musty odor, especially if they are made of wood or plastic. To address this issue, place a small roll of toilet paper with a few drops of oil in your closet. The fragrance will not only freshen your clothes but also repel cockroaches and prevent odors in wooden or plastic cabinets.
Third: Freshen smelly shoes with essential oils
Shoes can often emit an unpleasant smell after use. To tackle this issue, add a drop of oil to your insoles or place a piece of toilet paper with oil inside your shoes before storing them away. This method not only eliminates odors but also leaves a pleasant fragrance, ensuring you feel comfortable wearing your shoes all day.
Fourth: Repel mosquitoes effectively with essential oils on toilet paper
In addition to odor elimination, essential oils are also great for repelling mosquitoes. However, not everyone wants to apply these oils directly to their skin due to their strong smell and potential skin sensitivity.
As an alternative, try adding a few drops of oil to a roll of toilet paper and placing it next to your bed. The fragrance will last longer on the paper, keeping mosquitoes at bay. If you find a full roll of toilet paper bulky, you can also apply the oil to a band-aid and stick it to a wall, air conditioner, or fan.
Essential oils have numerous other applications. For instance, if your skin is stuck with super glue, simply add a few drops of oil and gently rub to remove the glue. Be careful to avoid getting oil in your eyes or mouth.
For flowers or potted plants infested with small insects, mix essential oils with dish soap and water in a spray bottle. Spray this solution onto affected areas to effectively eradicate the pests.
Precautions when using essential oils:
Do not use essential oils on children under two years old. For older children, adult supervision is required. Before applying the oil, clean and dry the affected area. Take a small amount of oil, about the size of a finger tip, and apply it to the painful area. For abdominal pain due to cold or indigestion, apply oil around the navel. For headaches, apply oil to the temples and gently massage.
Essential oils are for external use only and should not be ingested to avoid poisoning. Do not apply oil to the eyes, open wounds, or scratched skin. Limit usage to a maximum of four times a day, and discontinue use once pain has subsided.
Before applying oil, always clean and dry the affected area, using only the amount you need. Steam inhalation with essential oils is only recommended when experiencing a cold.
