One thing that often goes unnoticed is that wealthy people, when burning incense, will not place a vase of flowers on the right but prefer the left. This is because placing the vase in the correct position helps to harmonize yin and yang, allowing the host to gather and retain the positive energy of the earth and sky.

The correct position for placing a flower vase on the altar

According to the concept of our ancestors from ancient times, the position of the flower vase depends on the number of vases the host uses.

If there is only one vase of flowers on the altar, then the principle of “East vase, West fruit” must be followed. This means that the vase should be placed in the East direction, and the fruit plate should be placed in the West. So, the flower vase should be on the left – the East (which is the right side from the host’s standing position), and the fruit plate should be on the right – the West (the left side from the host’s standing position).

If there are two flower vases on the altar, the host should place them symmetrically on both sides, with the fruit plate in the middle. This arrangement helps to harmonize yin and yang and enables the host to gather and retain the positive energy of the earth and sky, making everything go smoothly.
