Climbing Rose
Climbing Rose is an iconic flower from Sa Dec, Dong Thap province, Vietnam. This rose variety exudes a simple beauty with no intricate fragrance or shape, and its petals wither quickly. However, its allure lies in its resilience and adaptability to diverse environmental conditions, be it drought or pest infestations.
If you’re short on time for gardening, Climbing Rose is the ideal choice. It grows rapidly, reaching heights of over 2 meters, with lush branches. Climbing Rose is perfect for planting along fences and in areas that require minimal intervention and maintenance.
Sapa Antique Rose
Sapa Antique Rose, one of the most unique and precious rose varieties in Vietnam, is often referred to as French Antique Rose or Sapa Antique Pink Rose. This variety is highly favored for its ease of cultivation and care, setting it apart from other antique roses.
Sapa Antique Rose boasts several advantages over regular roses, such as a wider spread, more buds, and abundant blooms. The flowers, as large as a rice bowl, have tightly packed petals that create a captivating look and exude a captivating fragrance. They are perfect for decorating living spaces, especially for those with spacious gardens.
Cloud Rose
Cloud Rose captivates with its pure pink hue, exuding elegance and charm. The large flowers, consisting of 40-60 petals, bloom in a dazzling display, with each petal carefully arranged and curled, resulting in a full yet dainty appearance. Its subtle, lingering fragrance is simply enchanting.
Cloud Rose is a large shrub with sturdy thorns and a long lifespan. It can grow up to 2 meters in height. Although its growth rate is slow, Cloud Rose is exceptionally robust, capable of withstanding harsh conditions, and is less susceptible to pest infestations and fungal infections compared to other foreign rose varieties.
Antique Pink Rose
Antique Pink Rose is a low-growing shrub with distinctive branching from the base, producing numerous branches and twigs. Its roots have a deep moss green color, while the stems display a vibrant green and are covered in sharp thorns.
The leaves of this rose variety are thick, short, and small with serrated edges, and each stem typically bears three leaflets with long petioles, setting it apart from common rose types. The leaves showcase a striking deep green shade.
What sets Antique Pink Rose apart from other antique roses in Vietnam is the unique color of its blooms. The flowers exhibit a delicate pink hue, and the intensity of this color can vary from deep to light shades depending on the amount of sunlight and temperature. During the summer, when temperatures soar and sunlight is intense, the flowers will be more vibrant and bloom rapidly. Conversely, in the cooler winter months with weaker sunlight, the flowers will be paler, and the blooming process will slow down.
Tầm Xuân Climbing Rose
Tầm Xuân, also known as Climbing Rose, is a prominent shrub with numerous sharp thorns. It can grow to a height of 1 to 2 meters. Tầm Xuân usually blooms from March to May, especially in the northern provinces of Vietnam.
However, when grown in favorable climates, such as in Da Lat, Tầm Xuân can bloom all year round. On the other hand, in warm climates without a winter season, like Saigon, Tầm Xuân will not flower.
This is understandable, as in regions with consistently high temperatures, the development of Tầm Xuân’s flower buds may be hindered. In fact, some foreign flower varieties, when introduced to Vietnam, bloom beautifully due to the prior development of their flower buds.
Haiphong Antique Climbing Rose
Haiphong Antique Climbing Rose, also known as French Climbing Rose, originated from a crossbreed created by Michele Malandrone in Italy in 1958. This rose variety was later introduced to the United Kingdom as ‘Don Juan’ by Jackson & Perkins. Notably, the French brought this rose to Vietnam, and it has since become an integral part of Haiphong’s landscape.
Haiphong Antique Climbing Rose is not much different from other climbing rose varieties. It thrives in open spaces and sunlight. When exposed to approximately eight hours of sunlight daily, the plant will flourish, be more resistant to pests, and produce abundant, vibrant blooms.
You can plant these roses year-round, but spring and autumn are the ideal seasons for their optimal growth.
