How to fix Zalo not recognizing QR codes

Outdated application, update to the latest version

Using an outdated version of the application can also cause Zalo not to recognize QR codes. You need to check and update Zalo to the latest version, then try scanning the QR code again!

Check internet connection

Another possible cause is an unstable or no internet connection. Try switching to a different Wi-Fi network or enable mobile data and check again.

Small or obstructed QR code

To successfully scan a QR code, your camera must capture the entire image of the code. Make sure your QR code is not obstructed or partially covered, and check that your camera is clean and functioning properly. Another case is if the QR code you’re scanning is too small, which may cause the camera to not recognize it. In that case, try getting closer or zooming in with your camera to fix the problem!

Zalo cannot recognize QR codes in images within chat messages

Another reason why QR codes in images within chat messages may not be recognized is that you haven’t enabled the feature to automatically recognize QR codes in images. To enable this feature:

Step 1: Access your Profile by tapping on the person icon in the bottom right corner > Select Settings with the gear icon in the top right corner.

Step 2: Select Privacy and then select Utilities under the Permissions for utilities and applications section > Enable Automatically detect QR codes in images. After that, try scanning the QR code again!

Restart your device

The last possible cause that can lead to not recognizing QR codes is your device. An old device may have app conflicts or system errors. Try restarting your device and check if you can scan the QR code!
