Effective Tips for Gas-Saving Cooking
1. Adjust the flame properly
While cooking, pay attention to the flame and adjust the gas stove knob so that the flame is just right for the bottom of the pot. A flame that is too large not only wastes gas but also disperses heat around instead of focusing on the bottom of the pot.
2. Choose suitable cooking utensils
Use a pot that is suitable for the amount of food you need to cook. Avoid cooking a small amount of food in a large pot, as this will waste gas. For dishes like stew or bone broth, consider using a pressure cooker as it helps cook the food quickly, tenderly, and saves gas.
3. Regularly clean the gas stove
After cooking each day, clean the gas stove to prevent dirt from accumulating and blocking the gas holes. Regular cleaning prevents unstable gas and uneven flame, leading to longer cooking time and more gas consumption.
4. Avoid adding water while cooking
When cooking, only add water if necessary. For example, when boiling noodles, add enough water based on the amount of noodles. If steaming food, especially rice, add only enough water for cooking. Generally, add water so that after steaming, there is about half a bowl of water left in the pot. Otherwise, boiling water will take longer and waste gas.
5. Lock the gas stove after cooking
After finishing cooking, be sure to lock the gas stove. This not only prevents gas leakage but also ensures safety for users, avoiding potential fire or explosion caused by gas leakage.
6. Avoid turning the stove on and off frequently while cooking
Before starting to cook, prepare all the ingredients and plan the dishes you will cook. Cook continuously once you turn on the gas stove. Turning the gas stove on and off multiple times while cooking will waste gas.
7. Use a wind guard for the gas stove
Consider using a wind guard, also known as a gas-saving ring, made of metal and designed to surround the burner. This product helps prevent heat dissipation while cooking, directing heat straight to the bottom of the pot and saving energy.
8. Focus on cooking, avoid multitasking
Avoid multitasking while cooking, such as cleaning or watching TV. To avoid wasting gas due to burned food, evaporated water, or pot fires, focus solely on cooking.
