Taking Action for a Greener Future

During the months of June and July, Acecook Vietnam made a significant move by transitioning from plastic to paper cups for their Modern and Handy Hao Hao instant noodle products. Importantlysection Moreover, the company maintained the selling price of these products, which not only met consumer expectations but also strengthened their trust in the brand.

Prior to this, Acecook Vietnam had already completed packaging transitions for other product lines, such as To Nho, Caykay, and Zeppin instant noodles.

In addition to packaging changes, the company has also replaced plastic forks with biodegradable ones. These forks are made with 49% bio-based content and are certified by TUV Austria (Europe) for their environmental friendliness. They have been introduced in the To Nho products since July 2024 and are expected to be fully implemented for the remaining products by the end of 2024.

With an annual production volume of over 3.4 billion products, Acecook Vietnam’s actions have significantly reduced the amount of plastic used in manufacturing and plastic waste released into the environment while maintaining quality and food safety standards. These steps demonstrate the company’s commitment to minimizing the environmental impact of their products and continuing their top priority of sustainable development in Vietnam.

Adopting Clean Energy in Production

Acecook Vietnam is strongly committed to preserving a green planet and is actively working towards reducing negative environmental impacts while enhancing product quality and community life. Beyond transitioning to paper packaging and biodegradable forks, the company is also engaged in research to utilize environmentally friendly packaging materials. Notably, they are gradually shifting from finite fossil fuelssection fuels to clean and renewable energy sources, such as solar and clean-burning gas, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, conserve energy, and protect the environment and climate.

For instance, in the instant noodle production process, boilers are used to generate hot water vapor. Since 2021, Acecook Vietnam has installed boiler systems that run on liquefied gas fuel, fully imported from Japan, in some of their factories to reduce emissions. Compared to coal-fired boilers, these gas-fired boilers reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 43%, NOx emissions by 70%, and produce no SO2 emissions, thus minimizing air pollutants. From 2023 onwards, the company is gradually replacing coal-fired boilers with biomass fuel boilers in the remaining factories, aiming to complete the transition to clean fuel in all boiler equipment by 2025.

Additionally, Acecook Vietnam utilizes “green energy” from solar panels to produce instant noodles. The rooftop solar panel system installed at their main office and factory in Ho Chi Minh City can generate an average of 900,000 kWh per year. This amount of electricity is equivalent to the production of approximately 3.6 million packages of Hao Hao noodles. The electricity is used not only for production but also to power the company’s main office building in Tan Binh Industrial Park, Ho Chi Minh City, which houses nearly 400 employees.

In addition to cost savings, the use of environmentally friendly green energy from solar panels helps reduce CO2 emissions caused by the greenhouse effect. This green energy system has also been implemented in the new Vinh Long factory, which began construction in March 2024.

Reinforcing Commitment to Community and Environment

Throughout its operations, Acecook Vietnam has consistently worked towards economic development while protecting the environment and promoting sustainability. As a result, in 2023, the company was honored to be included in the top 100 “Sustainable Businesses 2023” by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD), despite being a first-time participant. Acecook Vietnam upholds the business philosophy of “Happy Consumers, Happy Society, Happy Employees” and is committed to being a responsible enterprise that positively contributes to society and the environment.
