Tofu is an ingredient that has many benefits for the body, such as improving cardiovascular health, reducing cholesterol levels, enhancing memory, stabilizing blood pressure, preventing osteoporosis, and especially helping women improve their skin. Thanks to these benefits, tofu is favored and regularly used by many people.

However, eating tofu for a long time can make you feel “bored”. So, to replace them, bean curd skin is a effective and reasonable choice. Because it does not contain cholesterol, this dish is very suitable for the elderly, especially those with high blood pressure.

Normally, people often use bean curd skin for dipping in hot pot and cooking simple vegetarian dishes. Perhaps for that reason, in the eyes of many “culinary devotees”, this ingredient is both tough, difficult to eat, and bland.

With the following cooking method, you will have a delicious, nutritious, and easy-to-make stir-fry using the ingredient known as the “golden food” in the “anti-aging” world.

1. Ingredients for bean curd skin stir-fried with shiitake mushrooms

– Bean curd skin: 100 grams

– Fresh shiitake mushrooms: 200 grams

– Green and red bell peppers: 2 fruits

– Seasoning: Oyster sauce, soy sauce, olive oil, salt, sugar, cornstarch

2. Instructions for bean curd skin stir-fried with shiitake mushrooms

Step 1: Prepare the ingredients

– After buying the bean curd skin, soak it in warm water for about 30 minutes. When the bean curd skin becomes soft, you can cut it into bite-sized pieces, about 3 to 5cm long.

– Rinse the shiitake mushrooms and blanch them in hot water for about 10 seconds. Then, slice the softened shiitake mushrooms into thin slices.

– Rinse the bell peppers, remove the stems, and cut the peppers in half. After removing the seeds, cut the peppers diagonally.

Step 2: Stir-fry the bean curd skin

– Place a pan on the stove and heat it up. Then, add olive oil and the sliced shiitake mushrooms and stir-fry until the mushrooms are cooked and the water evaporates. Then, add the bean curd skin to the pan and stir-fry evenly.

– Season the dish with ½ tablespoon of soy sauce, 1/3 tablespoon of salt, 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce, and 1/3 tablespoon of sugar. Mix the ingredients well with your hands to absorb the seasoning.

– Next, add 1/3 bowl of boiling water to the pan and simmer. Gradually add the diagonally cut bell peppers and half a tablespoon of cornstarch to thicken the sauce in the pan.

– Stir-fry for about 1 minute, then turn off the stove and transfer the dish to a serving plate.

3. Notes when making bean curd skin stir-fried with shiitake mushrooms

– Choose pieces of bean curd skin with a natural light yellow color. If the bean curd skin is particularly bright or deep yellow, it may have been processed with chemicals.

– To make the bean curd skin evenly and quickly, before soaking them, you can use scissors to cut them into small sections. Besides, soak the bean curd skin in warm water with an additional tablespoon of salt as this method helps the bean curd skin absorb water quickly and the flavor of the bean curd skin also becomes richer.

– One of the ways to make the bean curd skin soft quickly is to add a tablespoon of white vinegar to the soaking water. White vinegar has a softening effect, so it helps you achieve double the good result.

– To add sweetness to the stir-fry, you can use bell peppers instead of chili peppers.
