Visiting this parlor will take you on a journey back in time to rediscover the ice cream flavors of your childhood, crafted with time-honored traditional methods that are absolutely mouthwatering.
2 What Makes Vi Bon Ice Cream Parlor So Special?
Rich History
The first thing that makes this ice cream parlor stand out is its nearly 70-year-old legacy. According to Ms. Chinh, the current owner, Vi Bon ice cream parlor was expanded to various locations by the sons of Mr. Ly Than, including Tung Thien Vuong Street, Pham Dinh Ho Street, Cau Nhat Tien Duong, and even as far as Chau Doc.
A Rich History
However, over time, the children and grandchildren of Mr. Ly Than gradually moved on, and only the current Vi Bon parlor remains in operation. Regarding the name “Vi Bon,” Ms. Chinh explained that “Bon” refers to one’s patron saint or guardian angel, and “Vi” is a preposition, so the name signifies a patron saint or guardian of the family’s four-generation legacy, which they hold dear.

Nostalgic Flavors
Vi Bon is also renowned for evoking a sense of childhood nostalgia and fond memories. The reason lies in their commitment to using only the freshest and healthiest ingredients. Furthermore, due to their high customer demand, they typically sell out their products daily, ensuring that customers always enjoy the freshest ice cream.
Flavors of Nostalgia
It is this unique flavor profile that keeps customers coming back, even though they may not offer as diverse a range of flavors as other ice cream shops. As shared by Ms. Le, a grocery store owner and regular customer of Vi Bon, she always sources her ice cream from this parlor because her customers adore its flavors and find the prices reasonable.
Currently, Ms. Chinh continues to run the family business with joy and dedication, a trade that has sustained four generations of her family. She is assisted by her daughter, Tram Anh. Although it is uncertain whether her daughter will take over the business, Ms. Chinh remains committed to pouring her heart into it as long as her health allows.
