What does the doctor say?

A 29-year-old doctor from Singapore, a kidney specialist with 7 years of experience, recently made a TikTok video and said that if people let their hair long, they should tie it up before using the restroom.

Empty

Explaining this, the doctor stated that when long hair is left loose while using the restroom, bacteria in the feces can spread to the hair and face, causing acne. On the hair, when the hair is hanging down, it will rub against the skin and then bacteria will invade your face.” Acne will appear when the hair follicles on the skin are clogged with oil, dirt, and bacteria, so daily cleanliness is very important in preventing acne.

Any other reasons why you should tie your hair when using the restroom?

In addition to preventing messy hair when using the restroom, you should also not leave towels and shaving razors in the toilet, as fabrics will accumulate bacteria in damp places, and razors will rust, so they should be placed in a dry place. Additionally, you should brush your teeth before using skincare products to avoid leaving bacteria on your face.

However, the view that “you should tie your hair when using the restroom to prevent the spread of bacteria” has been vehemently refuted by other doctors. Dermatologist Joshua Zeichner said, “In theory, if you leave your hair in the toilet for a long time, oily hair will rub against your face and may clog the pores. However, whether you’re sitting on the toilet or on the sofa, having your hair down in front of your face does not pose a significant risk.”

Many netizens also found it hard to believe the doctor’s statement and criticized it ruthlessly: “Can I survive?”, “Well, I’m still alive” and “I’ll wrap my hair around me like a scarf.” Faced with negative reactions from all walks of life, this doctor calmly replied: “They will be shocked because they have never thought about this.”
