Tartar is not good for your oral health. If not removed early, it will cause gum inflammation and recession.
Below are simple ways to remove stubborn tartar at home.
Baking Soda and Salt
This is the simplest way to remove tartar at home. Baking soda is a powerful ingredient that has antibacterial properties and helps whiten teeth.
Mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda with a pinch of salt and apply the mixture to your toothbrush. Also, add it to your regular toothpaste. Do not brush with baking soda more than once a week as it can damage tooth enamel.
Orange Peels
What have you done with leftover orange peels? Did you know that orange peels can effectively remove tartar because they contain citric acid?
You can directly rub the orange peel onto your teeth for about 2 to 3 minutes or stick it onto your teeth. Whichever method you choose, rinse your mouth with warm water afterwards. Repeat several times a week.
Sesame Seeds
Sesame seeds have many wonderful uses. Use them as a seasoning for salad or to remove tartar. They act as a natural scrub that cleans and polishes teeth at the same time.
Take a tablespoon of sesame seeds in your mouth and chew them thoroughly. You need to create a paste-like consistency and not swallow during this process. Then, brush your teeth with the paste using a dry toothbrush. Do this twice a week.
Hydrogen Peroxide and Mouthwash
Hydrogen peroxide has antibacterial properties, so it can clean your mouth. Mix 1 tablespoon of mouthwash with 3 tablespoons of 3% hydrogen peroxide, then rinse your mouth with the mixture for a few minutes and finally rinse your mouth with clean water.
Coconut Oil
Another ingredient that helps you remove tartar is coconut oil. The oil absorbs dirt in the mouth and also has antibacterial properties against living microorganisms in it.
Swish 1-2 tablespoons of oil in your mouth for 10-15 minutes, then spit it out and rinse your mouth thoroughly with warm water.
Strawberries and Tomatoes
Both tomatoes and strawberries are rich in vitamin C. Therefore, you can use them if you don’t like oranges. Chop either one of the fruits, grind them into powder, and apply them to your teeth. Leave it on for 5 minutes, then rinse your mouth.
Aloe Vera and Glycerin
A wonderful mixture for beautiful shiny teeth. Mix 1 tablespoon of aloe vera gel, 4 tablespoons of vegetable glycerin, 10 drops of lemon essential oil, and 4 tablespoons of baking soda in a cup of water to create a smooth paste.
Brush your teeth with this mixture once a day until you notice less tartar. Then, repeat once every 3 to 4 days. Aloe vera helps heal oral wounds quickly, and lemon essential oil will kill bacteria.
Above are simple ways to remove tartar. Be persistent in trying these methods, and tartar will quickly disappear, giving you strong and healthy teeth.
