Microwaved Popcorn

According to experts, eating microwaved popcorn can increase the risk of lung cancer. Therefore, to protect your body, it is advised to limit the consumption of these types of foods. The reason is that microwaved popcorn contains toxic chemicals found in the non-stick coating on the inside of the popcorn bag. When we put it in the microwave and cook it, the high temperature will cause these chemicals to degrade into a compound called perfluorooctanoic acid. This compound increases the risk of cancer, especially when cooked at high temperatures.

Processed Meats

According to nutrition experts, processed meats such as cold cuts, sausages, and smoked meat contain chemical preservatives that can easily cause malignant tumors and lead to cancer. Nitrites and nitrates in processed meats have been linked to an increased risk of cancer, especially colorectal and rectal cancer.

Carbonated Drinks

Carbonated soft drinks, similar to processed meats, have been scientifically proven to be one of the factors that cause cancer. This is because carbonated drinks have high sugar content, and the chemicals used in the food, artificial coloring agents, are capable of acidifying the body. This leads to premature aging and creates conditions for the formation and rapid development of cancer cells.

Grilled Red Meat

Grilled red meat releases heterocyclic amines, which are common cancer-causing agents. The American National Cancer Institute also states that cooking meat at high temperatures, such as on a grill, produces strong carcinogens and increases the risk of developing malignant cancer cells.

Unsaturated Cooking Oils

Unsaturated cooking oils are extracted from vegetable sources through complex chemical processes. They contain a large amount of omega-6 fatty acids. This fatty acid metabolism can increase the risk of heart disease or the risk of skin, pancreatic, and colorectal cancer.

Canned Tomatoes

Most canned foods are a concern because consumers are not confident about the quality of the can lining. Cans are often made of a chemical called bisphenol-A, or BPA. In addition, the high salt content in pickled products can easily cause gastritis and salt in food can cause cancer.

Salted Vegetables

Pickled cucumbers and pickled tomatoes are familiar dishes in Vietnamese family meals. However, experts say that if you don’t know how to make and eat them correctly, you can easily develop cancer. When pickled cucumbers and tomatoes still have a strong, spicy taste and have not been well fermented, the amount of nitrate will be converted into nitrite and combine with amino acids in the food to form nitrosamine. This compound has been shown to be able to cause cancer.

Salted Fish

Some types of dried salted fish often have high salt content, and some may even contain flavorings and nitrites. When nitrites enter the body, they react with proteins and form nitrosamine, a highly carcinogenic compound. It is also one of the four main chemical pollutants in food and can increase the risk of gastrointestinal tumors.
