The Northwest region and areas from Thanh Hóa to Huế City will see sporadic rainfall, mainly in the afternoon and evening, with localized heavy downpours. The Northeast region will also witness similar weather patterns.
In South Central Vietnam, coastal areas will enjoy sunny days with occasional heatwaves, though late afternoon and evening thunderstorms are expected. The Central Highlands and Southern regions will continue to face afternoon and evening showers, with some areas receiving heavy to very heavy rainfall. This weather pattern will persist into the afternoon and evening of July 15.
The Northern region will continue to experience complex thunderstorms in the coming days.
From July 14 to July 22, the Northern region will witness scattered showers and thunderstorms with localized heavy rainfall, particularly in the Northwest during late afternoons and evenings. Rainfall is expected to intensify around July 18, with more widespread storms and heavy downpours.
Areas from Thanh Hóa to Quảng Trị will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms, with rainfall increasing from July 19. Huế City and South Central Vietnam’s coastal areas will maintain a pattern of late afternoon and evening storms, alongside sunny days and occasional heatwaves. In the Central Highlands and Southern regions, afternoon and evening showers will dominate, with localized heavy rainfall.
Meteorological agencies warn that thunderstorms may bring tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts. Residents are advised to stay updated on weather conditions and take necessary precautions against extreme weather.
On July 12, the Northwest region, Phú Thọ, North Central Coast, Central Highlands, and Southern regions will face scattered showers and thunderstorms, with localized heavy rainfall. Between 7:00 and 15:00, areas like Mường Bang 1 (Sơn La) recorded 86.2mm, Nà Ưông Dam (Phú Thọ) 95mm, Lộc Yên (Hà Tĩnh) 97.2mm, and N. Trường 422 (An Giang) 117.8mm.
For the evening and night of July 12, the Northwest region, Phú Thọ, and areas from Thanh Hóa to Huế City will see scattered showers and thunderstorms with rainfall of 10-30mm, and localized totals exceeding 80mm. The Central Highlands and Southern regions will experience rainfall of 15-30mm, with some areas surpassing 100mm. Thunderstorms may include tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts.
These severe weather conditions pose risks to agriculture, trees, homes, transportation infrastructure, and other facilities. Heavy rainfall may cause flash floods in small rivers, landslides on slopes, and flooding in low-lying areas. The risk level for tornadoes, lightning, and hail is at level 1.
Challenging marine weather conditions expected in the coming days
Marine weather forecasts indicate strong southwest winds of level 6 in the Phú Quý special zone, with gusts up to levels 7-8. The eastern North and Middle East Sea, along with the South East Sea (including the Trường Sa special zone), will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms.
On July 12 and 13, the sea area from Bình Định to Cà Mau, the Middle and South East Sea (including Trường Sa), will face strong southwest winds of level 6, occasionally reaching level 7 at night, with gusts up to levels 8-9. Waves will range from 2.0-3.0m, and up to 2.0-4.0m in the Middle East Sea.
In the Gulf of Thailand and the North East Sea (including Hoàng Sa), southwest winds will reach level 5, occasionally level 6, with gusts up to levels 7-8. Waves will range from 1.5-2.5m, and up to 2.0-3.0m in the North East Sea.
On July 12 and 13, the sea areas from Lâm Đồng to Cà Mau, Cà Mau to Kiên Giang, the Gulf of Thailand, the eastern North and Middle East Sea, and the South East Sea (including Trường Sa) will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms. These storms may bring tornadoes, strong gusts up to levels 6-7, and waves exceeding 2m.
On July 13 and 14, the sea area from Bình Định to Vĩnh Long and the western South East Sea (including western Trường Sa) will have strong southwest winds of level 6, with gusts up to levels 7-8, and waves ranging from 2.0-3.0m. The North and Middle East Sea (including Hoàng Sa) will see southwest winds of level 5, occasionally level 6, with gusts up to levels 7-8, and waves from 2.0-4.0m. The marine risk level is at level 2.
Vessels operating in these areas are advised to exercise caution due to strong winds and large waves.
