Pans, Non-stick Pots

When buying pans and non-stick pots, you may think that the more expensive ones will use better materials and have a longer lifespan.

In reality, the lifespan of non-stick pans and pots is not directly related to their price.

Non-stick pans and pots can only be used for 2-3 years and then need to be replaced, even if the coating still looks intact.

Using non-stick cookware for a long period of time can be harmful to your health, as Teflon (the non-stick coating) can release up to 6 types of toxic gases.

Cutting Board

Currently, kitchen cutting boards are made from various materials, including stainless steel, rubber, bamboo, and wood.

Cutting boards made from different materials all have their own advantages and disadvantages, but no product is 100% perfect.

Cutting boards that come into contact with raw food in both family kitchens and luxury restaurants all pose health risks, especially when they have scratches. Salmonella and E.coli bacteria often get trapped in the old cutting board scratches, causing food poisoning, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.

Even washing the cutting board after each use cannot fully protect you, as it is difficult to thoroughly clean deep scratches and grooves.

It is best to have two cutting boards, one for raw food and one for cooked food, for better health. Experts recommend changing cutting boards about 3 times a year, depending on how often you use them.

Pillows

The comfort of a pillow can affect the quality of our sleep, so many people buy relatively expensive pillows to sleep more comfortably.

The prices of pillows made from different materials are certainly different, but no matter what type of pillow you use, it cannot be used for a long time.

For example, polyester pillows need to be replaced within about six months, active foam pillows can be used for two years, and latex pillows can be used from 2 to 4 years.

If a pillow is not replaced for a long time, it will harbor bacteria and fungi, which can also have negative effects on health.

Therefore, there is no need to choose an overly expensive set, just one that suits your sleeping habits and can be regularly cleaned and replaced.
