Tomatoes are a nutritious food that can be enjoyed during any meal of the day. They are not only good for our health, but also help to improve the quality of our skin and maintain a healthy figure. There are various ways to incorporate tomatoes into our meals, including slicing them to eat with other dishes, chopping them up for soup or stir-fry.

One issue that arises is how to store sliced tomatoes that have not been fully used. Simply putting them in the refrigerator often results in wrinkled and tasteless tomatoes. So what is the correct method for storing them?

Whole tomatoes that are not fully ripe are best stored at room temperature, away from direct sunlight. However, fully ripe tomatoes and sliced tomatoes that have not been fully used should be stored in the refrigerator. Sliced tomatoes are prone to bacterial contamination and will spoil quickly if left out.
To store sliced tomatoes, it is recommended to place a clean tissue paper in a sealed container, then place the sliced side of the tomato facing down before closing the lid. It is important to note that sliced tomatoes should be used within 2 days. For the best flavor, allow the tomatoes to “rest” at room temperature for 30 minutes before consuming. If there are any leftover sliced tomatoes after 2 days, they can be stored in the freezer for future use.
