Steamed buns are a popular type of snack that many people enjoy as a breakfast, late-night snack, or a filling for various meals throughout the day. However, constantly making steamed buns can be time-consuming, so some people make a large batch and refrigerate them for later consumption. Each time they want to eat, they just need to steam them again.

However, refrigeration can only keep the steamed buns fresh for up to 2 days. Moreover, when reheated, the buns tend to become drier and lose their original freshness and taste.

Therefore, chefs have shared a small tip for preserving steamed buns for a longer time without compromising their taste and texture. Here’s what you can do:

– Firstly, wrap each leftover steamed bun individually with plastic wrap.

– Then, place all these wrapped steamed buns into a ziplock bag (a bag with a sealable edge). If you have a vacuum sealer, you can remove all the air from the bag. If not, use your hand to push out as much air as possible.

– Next, place the bag of steamed buns in the freezer compartment of your refrigerator.

In reality, the steamed buns still need to be refrigerated, but not in the regular fridge compartment. Instead, they should be stored in the freezer compartment. In this area, the temperature is lower, so when you put the buns in, they quickly freeze, reducing the moisture loss. As a result, the buns will stay moist and soft when you steam them again.

Moreover, by storing them in the freezer compartment, the lower temperature can kill off some bacteria and prevent the growth of others, ensuring that the buns remain fresh for a longer time.

Now you have learned a clever way to save and preserve steamed buns. When you want to eat them, simply take them out and steam them again. When they become soft and hot, you can enjoy them without the worry of them being dry or hard.

Note: Before putting the steamed buns in the freezer compartment, make sure they are completely cooled.

Wishing you success!
