Love Wildflowers
Ms. Nguyen Thi Na (35 years old, Duy Ninh commune, Quang Ninh district, Quang Binh province) has had a strange passion for wildflowers since childhood. When she got married, her love for flowers grew stronger and she enjoyed arranging flowers and admiring them.
However, Duy Ninh, her hometown, is far from the city center. Na cannot buy the graceful and expensive flowers.
To satisfy her “addiction” to flowers, Na often goes foraging for wildflowers, asks neighbors for flowers, or plants them in her garden.
Na shares: “I love orchids, peonies, chrysanthemums, roses, and medicinal herbs… but I am fascinated by delicate and fragile wildflowers.
Wild oxalis is a type of wildflower that grows abundantly in my hometown. People uproot it and throw it away, but I bring it home and plant it in pots to admire every day.”
Na loves the simple beauty of wild oxalis flowers. They bloom most vibrantly during midday and quickly close in the afternoon, as if they are in a hurry to sleep.
Apart from wild oxalis, Na also loves other wildflowers such as azaleas, pentas, rain lilies, spider lilies, begonias, and vinca…
Due to her love for wildflowers, the woman from Quang Binh is willing to go through the trouble of bringing them home and planting them in her garden. The garden is designed on both sides of the house, with different flowers according to each season.
In addition to wildflowers, Na also cultivates many roses, stone lotus, and cactus… The total area of the house and garden is about 250m2.
“On weekends, my family and I often weed the garden, fertilize and plant trees. Taking care of the garden also helps strengthen our family bond and relax.
If you understand and love plants, you won’t feel tired. I find joy in planting and caring for plants,” Na shares.
Free Flower Arrangements
From loving flowers, Na developed a passion for flower arranging. She didn’t learn flower arranging from anywhere, she arranges them based on her own preference.
Approximately 90% of the flower arrangements she makes are from wildflowers picked along the roadside, from her garden, or given by friends and relatives… That’s why she doesn’t spend any money on the hobby of flower arranging.
Since she was young, Na has enjoyed flower arranging. She often picks spider lilies growing on both sides of the road and puts them in a vase on her desk.
However, the wildflowers that she loves the most wither quickly. The flowers only last for a day, and the petals close and no longer bloom the next day. So during the wild oxalis season, Na arranges a fresh flower arrangement every day.
Na tells a story: “Currently, I run an online business, so I have more time to admire wild oxalis flowers. In the past, I used to work from dawn to dusk. Wild oxalis flowers only bloom for a few hours at noon, so I rarely had the chance to admire them.
My young son knows that I love wild oxalis flowers. Every noon, he goes to pick a bunch and brings it home, then puts it in a cup, waiting for me to come home from work to give it to me.”
For Na, every zero-cost flower arrangement tells a simple story about family and homeland. Wildflowers have the ability to heal and regenerate energy for weary and tired souls in the hustle and bustle of life.
Zero-cost flower arrangements not only beautify the space of the house but also bring peace to the soul. Therefore, Na enjoys arranging flowers to make her home always warm and fresh.
Grass, flower, and leaf plants help Na relieve stress and replenish positive energy. This passion doesn’t cost much and connects people with nature.
