Although it is an essential condiment in every kitchen, salt has long been known for its cleansing properties. In feng shui, salt also has the ability to absorb negative energy, ward off evil spirits, and dispel bad luck from the house. That’s why our ancestors used to say, “Buy salt at the beginning of the year, lime at the end of the year.”

For those who have just moved to a new place, sprinkle salt in each room, especially the corners, and wait for 24 hours before cleaning. This will help absorb the negative energy from the previous owner and create a warm and harmonious environment for your family, free from any lingering bad luck.

In addition, to attract wealth and prosperity, you can place a bowl of salt in the wealth corner of your house (southeast). If you simply want to seek good health, place a bowl of salt in the family corner (east). Remember to replace the salt every 2 months for optimal results.

If you combine salt, water, and coins, the effectiveness will be multiplied. Specifically, pour salt into a bowl or glass, filling up 3/4 of the container. Arrange 6 coins in a circular shape on top of the salt, with the heads facing upwards. Finally, pour water and place the salt bowl on a piece of cloth and put it in a corner of your house.

So those are the effects of salt in feng shui, but sprinkling salt around the house has other practical benefits as well.

– Get rid of new paint smell

Salt has the ability to kill bacteria and effectively absorb the odor of fresh paint. So before moving into a new house, you can place a diluted saltwater bowl in the corners of the rooms to mask the paint smell.

In addition, you can combine salt with essential oils to make the air in your house more pleasant and refreshing. Remember to replace the saltwater bowl every day for the best results.

Remove dirt from door gaps

You can use a combination of salt, baking soda, and white vinegar to remove dirt from door gaps. Specifically, sprinkle some salt onto the door gaps, then add a little baking soda on top, and finally, pour some white vinegar. Next, place a layer of paper towel on top and leave it for 5 minutes to soften the dirt. After 5 minutes, remove the paper towel and gently wipe with a cloth, the dirt will be completely removed, leaving the door gaps clean and fresh.

Granulated salt has strong abrasive properties, and when combined with baking soda and white vinegar, it creates a chemical reaction that effectively softens the dirt in door gaps. This method can also be used to remove stains on pots, cutting boards, or grease on stoves, whiten stainless steel, etc.

– Prevent ants and termites on rainy days

To prevent ants and termites from entering your house on rainy days, you can use salt. Sprinkle salt on the ants’ path, when they encounter the salt, they will change direction and won’t enter your house anymore.

You can also proactively prevent ants and termites by sprinkling salt around the house or at the doorsteps to prevent them from entering.

– Kill snails, pests on plants

You can sprinkle granulated salt around the vegetable garden to prevent snails from crawling in and eating your plants. If you see them, you can directly catch and eliminate them quickly.

In addition, dilute salt in warm water with a ratio of 1 cup of salt to 1 liter of water, pour it into a spray bottle, and spray directly on the areas affected by pests and diseases on plants every 2 days. This method can effectively kill harmful pests.
