Vegetable Oil
A powerful, natural insecticide can be made by mixing vegetable oil with mild soap. This simple solution is highly effective against pesky insects such as aphids, mites, and thrips.
To make this insecticide, combine 1 cup of vegetable oil with 1 tablespoon of soap in a spray bottle and shake well. When ready to use, add 1 liter of water to the mixture, shake again, and spray directly onto infested surfaces.
Soap
For a basic soap spray insecticide, mix 1/2 teaspoon of mild liquid soap with 20-30 drops of essential oil of your choice and 1 liter of water. Spray this mixture directly onto infested areas.
This product can be used as needed, but it is best to avoid applying it during the heat of the day or in the evening.
Garlic
Garlic, with its pungent aroma, can be used as a natural insect repellent. To make a garlic insecticide, blend one bulb of garlic with a small glass of water and let it sit overnight. Strain the mixture and pour it into a spray bottle. Add 1/2 cup of vegetable oil and 1 teaspoon of mild liquid soap, then fill the rest of the bottle with water.
Chili or Peppercorns
Garlic and chili can also be used to make a potent insecticide. Mix 1 tablespoon of chili powder or pepper with 1 liter of water and 1 teaspoon of mild liquid soap. Be sure to strain the mixture to remove any chili residue, which could clog the spray nozzle.
Always wear gloves when handling and using chili-based insecticides.
Tomatoes
Tomatoes are effective against aphids and other pests. Chop 2 cups of fresh tomatoes and boil them in 1 liter of water. Blend the mixture, strain it, and pour the liquid into a spray bottle.
