3 How to Play the Conan: Finale Board Game
Components of the Board Game
The Conan: Finale board game includes the following components:
- 31 character cards, divided into two factions
Detective Team
- Edogawa Conan: The first and only character who knows the identities of all Black Organization members, except for Gin.
- Kudo Shinichi: Kudo Shinichi and Mori Ran know each other’s identities and work together to uncover members of the Black Organization.
- Mori Ran: During the night, Ran can choose one person to protect, regardless of their faction. However, Ran cannot protect the same person for two consecutive nights.
- Kaito Kid, the Super Thief: Kaito Kid can disguise himself as a captured player from the previous night. This ability only applies to captured players from the Detective Team.
- Akai Shuichi: Possessing the “Silver Bullet,” Akai Shuichi can eliminate any player he suspects of being a member of the Black Organization.
- Matsuda Jinpei: A character with a unique ability, Matsuda Jinpei carries a bomb that detonates if he is captured or killed, taking out the two adjacent players as well.

In this player count, most characters do not possess special abilities, and instead, Conan, Shinichi, and Gin hold unique powers.
Preparation
- Players select character cards and corresponding Tokens.
- For a group of 6: Choose either Conan or Shinichi, 1 Gin card, 1 Criminal card, and 3 additional cards from the Detective Team.
- For a group of 7: Follow the instructions for a group of 6 and add 1 more card from the Detective Team.
- For a group of 8: Choose an additional card from the Detective Team and 1 more Criminal card.
- For a group of 9: Select 2 cards from the Detective Team and 1 Criminal card.
- Shuffle the character cards and deal them evenly among the players.
- Place the support Tokens in the center of the table for easy access and visibility.
- Before starting, designate one player as the game master.
Let the Game Begin
- The game master instructs everyone to close their eyes.
- At the game master’s signal, members of the Black Organization open their eyes, recognize each other, and then close their eyes again.
- The Black Organization members raise their hands. When prompted, Conan/Shinichi opens their eyes and identifies the members of the Black Organization.
- After Conan/Shinichi finishes identifying, the game master signals the Black Organization members to lower their hands, and Conan/Shinichi closes their eyes again.
- Next, Conan/Shinichi raises their hand to allow the Detective Team members to identify each other, after which they close their eyes.
- Couples, as per the instructions (for example, Sato and Takagi), wake up to recognize each other and then close their eyes.
Discussion
Players engage in a 3-minute discussion to determine the roles of all participants, after which they vote to eliminate one player. The player with the most votes is eliminated and must reveal their character card to everyone.
If the eliminated player is Conan/Shinichi or Gin, their opposing faction wins. If not, the game continues, and the eliminated player no longer has voting rights.
Gameplay for 6-9 Players
Gameplay for More Than 10 Players
In this mode, each character, regardless of faction, possesses unique abilities and hidden stories, making the gameplay similar to Werewolf.
Preparation
- Players select character cards and corresponding Tokens.
- Shuffle the character cards and deal them evenly among the players, ensuring each player has one character card.
- Place the support Tokens in the center of the table.
- If there are more than 15 players, distribute an additional Treasure card to each player for use during the night.
- Designate one player as the game master, similar to Werewolf.
Gameplay
- During the first night, the game master calls upon the designated characters to wake up and identify each other, similar to the process in the 6-9 player mode.
- On subsequent nights, players with abilities wake up to perform their actions. Even if a player’s ability can only be used once, they must still wake up to avoid revealing their role to the other players. If a player has a Treasure card, they must also wake up to use its ability.
- During the day, a 5-minute discussion takes place, followed by a vote to eliminate one suspected player. The player with the most votes is captured, but if there are multiple players with the highest number of votes, no one is captured.
- If the captured player is not Gin, Conan, or Shinichi, the game continues with subsequent night and day rounds until a winning faction is determined.
