Tips for cleaning disease-causing bacteria from the shower head

According to the National Institute of Health, Mycobacteria, a microorganism that causes lung infections, is always present in shower heads.

According to the New York Post, Dr. Scott Walter, a dermatologist in Golden, USA, advises people to regularly clean the shower head in the bathroom to avoid damaging the skin and lungs.

“When you shower, bacteria, yeast, and other fungi will be aerosolized and can enter the lungs, affecting the skin and various other parts of the body,” said Dr. Walter.

Here are simple and effective tips for cleaning the shower head.

Use white vinegar

<p style=Put white vinegar in a nylon bag, immerse the shower head in it, use a rubber band to secure it, and leave it there. Make sure that the entire dirty area of the shower head is submerged in vinegar. Minimum soaking time is 30 minutes, can be left overnight, depending on the dirt and water deposits on the shower head. Remember, the longer you soak, the easier it is to clean.

Then, use a toothbrush and dental floss to clean the entire shower head. Use a soft cloth to wipe it and then turn on the water to flush out any dirt that has been pushed out during the soaking process.

For large shower heads that are difficult to find a large enough bag to soak in, or shower heads directly attached to the ceiling, you can choose to soak each part in a vinegar-filled bag or separate them and soak them in individual plastic basins. Alternatively, you can use a toothbrush with vinegar to clean them, then rinse them without soaking them in vinegar beforehand.

Refer to the manufacturer’s instructions or check the instruction manual. Some manufacturers may prohibit the use of chemicals for cleaning, or it may require disassembly.

Use lemon juice and vinegar mixture

The lemon juice and vinegar mixture also helps clean the shower head quickly. You need to mix 3 tablespoons of lemon juice with 300ml of vinegar, put it in a bag, and tie the bag to the shower head.

Soak the shower head in the mixture for a few hours and then use a brush to clean the dirt on the surface. Then, turn on the water for a few minutes.

You can also use baking soda to clean the disease-causing bacteria from the shower head: Mix a little lemon juice with baking soda to create a mixture and pour it into a bag. Tie this bag to the shower head and soak overnight. In the morning, use a brush to clean the small holes on the surface of the shower head and then flush out the residue.
