1. Domestic Pepper Prices

Pepper prices in the domestic market today are ranging from 76,500 to 79,500 VND per kg in the key growing areas.

Specifically, the latest pepper prices in the following provinces are as follows:

  • Dong Nai and Gia Lai have the lowest prices at 76,500 VND per kg
  • Dak Lak and Dak Nong are at 77,500 VND per kg
  • Binh Phuoc is at 78,500 VND per kg
  • Ba Ria – Vung Tau has the highest price at 79,500 VND per kg

Currently, even if pepper prices increase to 80,000 VND per kg, not many farmers will benefit. This is simply because there is no pepper left to sell. Previously, experts also predicted that with the current situation, the domestic market will gradually have to release its reserves of 40,000 tons of pepper, and there are no more sources of cheap pepper available.


2 Update on Global Pepper Prices

In the global market today, as of 00:15 on August 19, the price of black pepper on the Kochi, India exchange ranged from 41,300 to 41,375 Rupees per quintal, a slight increase compared to the previous session.

The State Bank of Vietnam’s applicable exchange rate for calculating import and export taxes from August 12 to 18, 2021, is 311.41 VND/INR.
