However, there is one unfortunate problem in that the flowers wither after a short period of time. Do you know how to extend the lifespan of fresh flowers?
1. Flower stems
First of all, when cutting stems, cut as long as possible, and cut the bottom end of the stem at a 45-degree angle to increase the contact area with water, allowing the plant to absorb enough water for preservation purposes.
The purpose of keeping the stems longer is for you to carefully trim them, after 2 to 3 days re-cut them slightly shorter and remove any slightly soft and rotten branches at the bottom of the water, to ensure the freshness of the stems. Without affecting moisture absorption.
In addition, a part of the leaves at the bottom end of the stem needs to be removed. Do not let the leaves touch the water, otherwise they will rot, leading to more bacteria in the water and flowers.
2. Flower vase
No matter which vase you use to arrange flowers, clean the vase as thoroughly as possible. Do not leave dust, impurities, or oil stains on it. Clean it with household detergent or soap water.
3. Flower preservation water
In general, normal fresh water can be used to preserve flowers. The best water to soak in beforehand is tap water, too much chlorine in the water and too strong alkalinity will make it difficult for the flowers to stay fresh. Pure water is the best for preserving flowers.
If the flower stems have many branches, they are more likely to rot. The water level in the vase should be at the same level as the stem. To keep the water quality clean, you need to change the water regularly. Change it every 2 days in spring and autumn, and change it every day in summer to minimize bacterial reproduction.
4. Add some materials to the water
To inhibit bacteria and prolong the flowering time, you can add a little salt to the water, which has a bactericidal effect, or you can crush a small aspirin tablet into powder and add it to the water. The main component of aspirin is salicylic acid, which can promote cell metabolism.
5. Maintain ventilation
The flower vase should be placed in a well-ventilated environment, so that the branches will be fresher and healthier. If it is placed in a stuffy environment without air circulation, the leaves will droop. In addition, the location should not have direct strong light, as it will cause burning and drying of the flowers.
If you want to buy flowers outside, you can choose some easy-to-bloom and easy-to-grow varieties of flowers, such as roses, carnations, lilies, daisies, carnations, etc.
Finally, we would like to introduce a method of permanently preserving flowers: that is to hang the flowers upside down and let them dry naturally in a dark place, so that they will not fade and always maintain vibrant colors. It is called dried flowers.
