Benefits of Vacuuming
Longer Food Preservation, Ensuring Food Safety
Utilizing vacuuming techniques can significantly extend the shelf life of food compared to storing it in the open. For instance, vacuum-sealed and properly stored dried foods can last up to two years in cool environments or refrigerators without the need for additional preservatives. This method of food preservation also contributes to maintaining food safety and hygiene.
Preserving the Nutrition and Freshness of Food
Vacuum-sealing food removes the air from the sealed bag, preventing exposure to oxygen and other external factors that can spoil or diminish the quality of the food. This preservation method helps to retain the freshness and nutritional content of the food until consumption.
Limiting Mold Growth, Harmful to Health
Vacuuming prevents food from coming into contact with oxygen during storage, minimizing the growth of bacteria and mold that can cause food spoilage. This preservation method helps prolong the shelf life of food and protects against health risks.
How to Vacuum with a Hairdryer
You can use a specialized vacuum sealer to vacuum food, but you can also achieve similar results using a hairdryer with the following steps:
Preparation
- Vacuum bags (or ziplock bags)
- Plastic bottle
- Hairdryer
- Tape
Procedure
Step 1: Cut the plastic bottle in the shape of a funnel.
Use scissors to remove the top portion of the plastic bottle, leaving approximately one-third of its length. This cut should create a funnel-shaped structure.
Step 2: Drill a hole in the bottle cap.
Using a drilling tool, create a hole in the plastic bottle cap with a diameter that matches the size of the straw. Pass the straw through the hole and insert it into the small hole of the vacuum bag, securing it tightly with tape. In the case of using a ziplock bag, simply close the bag, leaving a small hole for the straw to enter.
Step 3: Begin vacuuming the food.
Plug the hairdryer into an outlet and insert the air intake part (the back of the hairdryer) into the plastic funnel, ensuring a tight fit. Finally, switch on the hairdryer to start the vacuuming process for the food.
So, now you know how to easily vacuum-seal food at home using a hairdryer for better preservation. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment below!
