Nestled in a prime location just a short distance from Sa Pa’s bustling center, Ta Van is easily accessible by car or motorbike. The journey along Provincial Road 152 offers travelers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and the iconic terraced rice fields of the Northwest region. While the route is generally smooth and well-maintained, a few winding and rugged stretches add an adventurous touch typical of mountainous terrain. Overall, the trip is relatively hassle-free.
The best time to visit this enchanting village is between April and October. April and May mark the water-pouring season, while September and October transform the valleys into a golden sea of ripe rice. From June to July, Ta Van is adorned with vibrant green rice terraces, creating a serene and picturesque atmosphere.

For Gen Z travelers, Ta Van offers a unique cultural experience through its diverse cuisine. A trip to the Northwest wouldn’t be complete without savoring traditional dishes like bamboo-tube rice (cơm lam), grilled chicken with mac khen, and seasonal local vegetables. The aroma of grilled chicken paired with warm, sticky bamboo-tube rice is sure to leave a lasting impression.
Additionally, visitors can indulge in the traditional herbal bath of the Red Dao people. Unlike urban spas, these treatments use natural herbs and leaves harvested by locals from the surrounding forests. After a day of exploration, soaking in a herbal bath, combined with a massage and herbal foot soak, is the perfect way to unwind and recharge.
