In modern households, the presence of household appliances is considered essential in supporting people’s lives. It can be said that household appliances are found in every room, every corner of the house. From the living room, kitchen, bedroom, or even the bathroom.
Although they provide convenience, not every household appliance can be used for a long time. According to a recent article on aboluowang, there are even some items that have not shown any signs of damage, but it is best for users to consider carefully before using them. They should not be used for too long and should be replaced when any abnormal signs are detected. Here is a list of four types of such devices, let’s check if your family is using them.
1. Devices from unclear brands
Many people have a habit of buying items without clear brands. These products are usually cheaper, which helps users save costs. However, not all of these products are of poor quality and ineffective.

However, experts generally advise against using these items for too long. The reason given is that they are cheaper, so the raw materials and production processes of these products may be cut down. For example, the insulation layer, thermal insulation, or safety features may not be fully equipped. There have been many cases where users unknowingly used devices without clear origin and the devices unexpectedly exploded or posed dangers during use.
Here is an example of a Chinese girl’s story. She bought a UV disinfection machine for underwear online for over 200 yuan, advertised as no different from genuine products. After only 3 uses, when the girl was using it in the middle of the night, the device suddenly emitted smoke. Fortunately, it was discovered in time and no serious consequences occurred.

Therefore, when deciding to buy cheap items without clear brands, users should consider carefully. During the use of the device, always monitor closely, and if any abnormal signs are detected, stop using it and dispose of it immediately.
2. Devices that have exceeded the expiry date
Whether it is a high-priced or low-priced household appliance, they all have a certain service life. This has been confirmed by many experienced professionals in the field or associations related to electrical appliances and household appliances. For example, according to the China Household Electrical Appliances Association, the average service life of a refrigerator is usually 10-16 years. After this period, even if users can still use it, there will be many signs such as water leakage, loud noise, or high power consumption.
Similarly, a washing machine has a lifespan of only about 8 years. When it is “expired”, the washing machine may vibrate strongly, make noise, or even leak electricity and water during use, causing inconvenience and safety hazards to the family. The same goes for all other devices such as electric water heaters, range hoods, or air conditioners, each with its own service life.

Therefore, when buying and using a household appliance, users should pay attention to the expiration date of the device. It is best to ask the distributors or sellers for advice. When the device at home reaches the limit of its service life, it should not be continued to be used, but instead replaced with a new device or participate in “exchange old for new” programs offered by suppliers.
3. Devices without safety power cut-off mode
Currently, to ensure the safety of users, some household appliances that have the function of cooking food or water, are often equipped with a safety power cut-off feature. Specifically, when reaching a certain high temperature or when the water or food has boiled, these devices will automatically disconnect the power. From there, it minimizes the risk of overheating, leading to dangerous fires.
Therefore, if devices do not have this feature, users should not buy them. Or if the devices in your home already have it, but after a long period of use, this feature no longer works, then it is not recommended to use the device anymore. Replace it with a new device that is fully equipped with safety features.

4. Household appliances that do not meet national standards
Each country has its own set of standards for household appliances and electronic devices. These standards can include energy consumption levels, safety levels, or environmental impacts. All products sold on the market, for consumers, need to meet these national standards. For example, in Vietnam, at the end of May last year, Decision 14/2023/QD-TTg was issued to establish a list and roadmap for eliminating low-efficiency energy-consuming devices.
Simply put, these are products that are made using outdated technology, which have an impact on the environment and consume a lot of electricity. Therefore, products included in this list are prohibited from production, trading, and consumers should not buy or continue to use them. Examples include electric fans with energy efficiency BELOW the national standard TCVN 7826:2015; washing machines with energy efficiency BELOW the national standard TCVN 8526:2013; or induction cookers with energy efficiency BELOW the national standard TCVN 13372:2021…

Every family or individual user should check their devices carefully. If they no longer meet national standards, it is best to replace them with new products.
