3How to Calculate High School Graduation Scores Using a Formula

Formula for Calculating High School Graduation Scores for Regular High School Students

For students in the regular high school education system, to achieve a passing graduation score, you must take four exams, including: three independent exams in Mathematics, Literature, and English, and one combined exam in either Natural Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) or Social Sciences (History, Geography, Civics).

If you choose one of the above combined exam blocks, you must take all three subjects, and the score will be the average of the three subjects in the block.

Formula for Calculating Graduation Scores for Regular High School Students

Example: Calculate the total score where the scores for the three independent exams are: Mathematics – 9, Literature – 8, English – 9. The student chooses the Social Sciences block and scores: History – 8, Geography – 8, Civics – 8.

Total score for 4 exams = (Mathematics + Literature + English) + [(History + Geography + Civics)/3]= (9 + 8 + 9) + [8 + 8 + 8)/3]= 34

You can also manually calculate your graduation score using the formula below.

Formula for Calculating Graduation Scores for Continuing Education Students

For students in the continuing education system, to achieve a passing graduation score, you must take three exams, including: two independent exams in Mathematics and Literature, and one combined exam in either Natural Sciences or Social Sciences. The specific calculation formula is as follows:

Depending on the scoring methods of different universities and majors, the calculation of entrance exam scores also varies. There are two basic methods:

Formula for University Entrance Exam Scores Without Double Weighting

Some universities or certain foreign language majors will double the weight of the main subject. Therefore, if you achieve a high score in these main subjects, you will have an advantage over other candidates!

Calculating University Entrance Exam Scores With Double Weighting

Example: A candidate has the following entrance exam scores: Mathematics – 7, Literature – 8, English – 7.5, and priority points – 0

Total entrance exam score = [7 + 8 + (7.5 x 2)] x ¾ + 0 = 22.5 points.

Formula for University Entrance Exam Scores With Double Weighting

For universities that calculate entrance exam scores in the usual way, without double weighting, the total entrance exam score is the average of the three chosen subjects plus priority points, if any.

Example: A candidate chooses block D01: Mathematics, Literature, and English, and scores: Mathematics – 8, Literature – 8, English – 9.5, and priority points – 0.5.

Total entrance exam score = 8 + 8 + 9.5 + 0.5 = 26.
