Important Note Before Opening Canned Goods

When it comes to opening canned goods, it’s important to use a sturdy stainless steel or metal spoon. Avoid using plastic or wooden spoons, as well as metal spoons that are thin and weak.

The force applied to open the can is usually quite strong, and a thin, fragile spoon may bend or break. For your convenience, refer to Image 1.

Additionally, during the process of opening the can, sharp edges may form on the lid. To protect your hands from scratches and injuries, it is recommended to wear gloves while opening canned goods. Please refer to Image 2.

How to Open a Can with a Spoon

– To open a can with a spoon, first, hold the spoon comfortably with your entire hand wrapped around half of the spoon and its handle. See Image 3 for an example.

– Next, maintain this grip and place the tip of the spoon directly onto the top lid of the can. Instead of positioning the spoon in the middle, choose a spot close to the edge of the lid and the can’s rim.

Gently press the spoon down, and then move it back and forth while maintaining pressure until a small hole is created in the lid. Refer to Image 4 for a better understanding.

Press the spoon harder to widen the hole, and then move the edge of the spoon along the rim of the can to pry the lid open.

– When you’re almost done opening the lid, leave a small portion attached so that you can cover the can again if there are any leftovers. This makes storing the remaining food more convenient.

– Once the can is open, lift the lid and scoop out the contents to enjoy or prepare as desired. See Image 5 for reference.
