2 Let’s Get Started
Step 1 Prepare and Mark
Using your embroidery hoop, secure the area that needs to be mended. This will make the process easier and ensure neat stitching. Use your fabric pen or chalk to draw a circle around the hole, slightly larger than the hole itself. Then, mark six points on the circle, evenly spaced. These marks will be the peaks of your star.
Secure the fabric in the hoop and mark the stitching area
Step 2 Stitch the Outer Star
Cut a length of thread and thread your needle. Knot the end. Starting from the back, bring your needle up at one of the marked points. Pull the thread through until the knot stops it. Then, take the needle down at the second mark to the left, and bring it back up at the left of the first mark. Continue this stitching pattern, always bringing the needle up at the left of the previous stitch and down at the next mark. This will create a star outline.

Step 3 Fill in the Star
Now, we’ll fill in the star with stitching. The technique is similar to Step 2, but this time, you’ll be stitching along the edges of the star, slightly inside the marked lines. Bring your needle up at the left of the peak and down at the right, always keeping the stitches close to the edge. Continue filling in the star until the entire shape is covered.

And there you have it! We’ve shown you how to sew a cute six-pointed star to cover a hole in your clothing. It’s a simple and effective way to repair and decorate your garments. Now it’s your turn to give it a try. Happy stitching and good luck!
