What is Blood Alcohol Concentration?

Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) is a measure of the amount of alcohol in drinks such as wine and beer. Also known as ethanol concentration, this metric measures the amount of alcohol in the blood after consuming alcoholic beverages. BAC is calculated as the number of milliliters of pure ethanol in 100 milliliters of solution at a temperature of 20 degrees Celsius.

Measuring BAC is crucial for ensuring road safety and personal health. To calculate BAC, several factors must be considered, including gender, weight, alcohol ratio, and the volume of alcohol consumed. Typically, the ideal time to measure BAC is 30 to 70 minutes after consumption, as this is when the alcohol has been absorbed and distributed throughout the body.

According to Article 8, Clause 8 of the 2008 Road Traffic Law, operating a vehicle while having a BAC above the legal limit is prohibited.

Measures to Reduce Blood Alcohol Concentration

Lemon Salt Water

The above measures only temporarily mask the alcohol odor and do not eliminate alcohol from the breath or body. As alcohol in the breath originates from the lungs, it is impossible to deceive a breathalyzer. The best way to ensure safety after drinking is to refrain from driving and instead opt for a taxi or have a designated driver.
