“After much discussion, my friends and I decided on Bãi Đông as our travel destination, considering the ease of accessibility, no need for ferries, and most importantly, the affordability of accommodation, food, and other services.

Our group of five friends spent three days and two nights at Bãi Đông, indulging in all the fun activities it had to offer, and our expenses only amounted to around 1.5 million VND per person. The sunrise views we captured were no less impressive than those from famous islands,” shared Hiền.

Hiền was pleasantly surprised by the delicious breakfast options, with a bowl of local noodles costing only 30,000-35,000 VND. Accommodations were also a steal, with homestays providing comfortable rooms for just 400,000 VND, and seafood feasts filling their bellies for about 200,000 VND per person.

Located on the Nghi Sơn Peninsula, Bãi Đông is about 60 km south of Thanh Hóa city center and over 200 km from Hanoi. It serves as a gateway to the Mê Island, often referred to as a marine nature reserve.

For the past three years, Bãi Đông has been attracting travelers seeking untouched beauty, serene surroundings, crystal-clear waters, and delicious seafood at affordable prices. The area boasts a long coastline surrounded by towering mountains and rocky cliffs. These cliffs offer breathtaking views of sunrise and sunset, rivaling the famous sights of Lý Sơn and Phú Quốc.

This summer, Bãi Đông has become a trending travel destination. Social media posts and videos showcasing its stunning sunrises and sunsets have garnered hundreds of thousands of interactions.

While the tourism services in Bãi Đông may not be as diverse as those in Thanh Hóa’s better-known destinations like Hải Tiến and Sầm Sơn, the area is gradually developing.

Travelers from Hanoi can easily reach Bãi Đông by car or limousine (priced at 250,000 – 300,000 VND per person one way), or by bus (approximately 150,000 VND per person one way) in just four hours.

Quốc Duy, a local tourism operator in Nghi Sơn, noted an increase in inquiries and bookings for tours and experiences in the Bãi Đông and Mê Island areas this summer. Activities like SUP boarding, night squid fishing, a two-day, one-night tour of Mê Island, and witnessing the sunrise along the Bãi Đông coast are particularly popular.

According to Quốc Duy, there are three must-visit spots in the area: the beach belonging to the Nghi Sơn Eco Island resort, the “lone tree” (despite the tree having fallen, the spot remains a picturesque location for sunrise and sunset), and the Nghi Sơn bay fishing village.

Visitors can also explore the peaceful fishing village, a church, and a lighthouse. The laid-back atmosphere of this place offers a sense of tranquility and relaxation.

In the evenings, visitors can indulge in seafood dinners at the fishing village or enjoy a cup of coffee by the sea. Compared to Hải Tiến and Sầm Sơn, Bãi Đông offers more reasonable prices. For 450,000 – 500,000 VND per person, visitors can rent a tent and enjoy a seafood barbecue on the beach…

For those with more time on their hands, a tour of Bung Island is a great option. It includes fishing, boating, coral viewing, and local cuisine experiences, all for about 300,000 VND per person.

Based on various travel blogs, a two-day, one-night trip to Bãi Đông can cost as little as 1-1.3 million VND per person, including comfortable accommodations, delicious seafood meals, SUP boarding, and scooter rentals.

However, it’s important to note that Bãi Đông has a limited number of resorts, hotels, homestays, and guesthouses. Therefore, it is advisable to research and book your accommodations in advance to ensure a pleasant stay.
