Summer is a time when flies and mosquitoes are more active, causing a nuisance. To repel these winged pests, you can use a few coins and a plastic bag.

It’s simple; take a clear plastic bag, fill it with water, and drop in a few coins. Then, tie the bag tightly and hang it next to your window. This will keep flies and mosquitoes at bay.

This works because, in the summer, light is relatively strong, and when it passes through the plastic bag, it refracts off the coins, creating a reflection of different lights. Flies and mosquitoes are repelled by bright light and will fly away when faced with it.

Instead of a plastic bag, you can also use a clear plastic bottle. The process is similar.

In addition to hanging the plastic bag with coins next to your window, you can also hang it in your garden to keep away flies that may sting your fruits.

Second: Cleaning Window Sills

For the second use, all you need is a coin and a cloth. Wrap the coin in the cloth and use it to clean the dirt in the crevices of your window sill’s sliding track.

With just one swipe, the dirt will stick to the cloth, leaving your window sill clean. If the dirt is too stubborn, spray some white vinegar and baking soda solution onto the window sill to soften it before cleaning with the coin-wrapped cloth.

Third: Removing Tape

Another use for coins is to help remove tape. You can stick a coin to the end of a tape roll to mark it, so you don’t have to search for the end each time you need to use the tape.

Additionally, coins can make it easier to tear off a piece of tape. Give it a try!

Fourth: Cleaning Keyboards

Coins can also be used to clean keyboards. Over time, dirt and dust accumulate in the crevices between the keys, affecting performance. Wrap a coin in tissue paper and slide it between the keys to remove the dirt.

Not just for window sills and keyboards, coins can also be used to clean any small crevices that cleaning tools can’t reach.
