The House of Corn Màng Mủ boasts a space filled with… corn! This unique home was built by Giàng A Súa, a local man from Màng Mủ village in Mồ Dề commune, Mù Cang Chải district, back in 2017. He aptly named it the House of Corn Màng Mủ.
The House of Corn Màng Mủ boasts an impressive interior that provides a stunning backdrop for photographs. After each corn harvest, the local people of this highland region have a tradition of hanging corn to store as food. So, when you travel to the Northwest, you’ll often see rows of golden corn hanging under the porches of the highland people’s homes.
However, not all visitors know about this unique corn house. That’s because it’s located in Mồ Dề commune, about 4km from the district center of Mù Cang Chải.
Hờ Thị Mảy, a local tour guide, shared that to get to the corn house, you can rent a motorbike or hire a local guide to take you there. The cost is quite low, and it’s often combined with visits to other attractions around Mù Cang Chải, such as exploring Khau Phạ Pass or admiring the rice terraces at Mâm Xôi Hill and Móng Ngưa Hill.
The sunlight streaming into the House of Corn creates a dazzling display.
The corn house is decorated with the distinctive cultural touch of the local people: golden corncobs. What’s more, the entrance fee is incredibly affordable at just 10,000 VND per person. Here, you can experience the art of weaving practiced by the ethnic groups, try your hand at painting with honey beeswax, and more.
Plenty of photo opportunities await inside the House of Corn, all for just a small entrance fee.
Painting with beeswax costs 40,000 VND per painting.
Foreign tourists particularly enjoy these cultural experiences.
“Everyone who comes here loves it, from children to adults, Vietnamese to foreigners,” shared Hờ Thị Mảy. “The owner, A Súa, is very friendly and honest, so people always leave with fond memories.”
So, when you visit Mù Cang Chải, be sure to add the House of Corn Màng Mủ to your itinerary, along with the famous rice terraces and breathtaking landscapes!
